It's that time... to make New year's resolutions. And many of us find some area to improve ourselves. So, this week, we are focusing on improving a past work of art!
Choose ANY card from YOUR OWN gallery and remake it. Maybe you will add a background stamp. Maybe you will add a mat. Maybe less is more! Or maybe you change something like an embellishment or a color. It may have been limited then so... Show us your new skillzzz!
Uploading: When you upload, briefly explain the improvements you made and attach a link to the first card in the comments section. And, of coarse, don't forget to put LSC44 in the keywords box
I've just finished 2 cards that I'll upload in the morning. But thanks to Melody, here is a sample to get you started! I love this card! I can't wait to get this set.
***This is a spin-off of November VSN I (Hostess - Granny Hawkins) which has you remaking your very first card. You can see more samples by searching NOVVSNI ***

I'm not sure I have one in my gallery to improve, since I've only been uploading for about a month, but I'm sure I can find one in my stash & then I'll upload a before & after, OK?

I have to clear my table before I can stamp. I decided to rearrange my stamp room yesterday afternoon- now I have a huge mess. It's one of those rooms that has collected junk for years - so I'm sifting through. I'll clear my desk and get on it - who wants to clean anyways

My second one has been approved! I'm unsure of this one, though. Might have to do it again... but that's what this challenge is about! LOL! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

I went looking through my stash & found several & then it took me an hour to find the stamps I used. Couldn't find one, so will have to use a substitute. Will have some results (hopefully good ones) soon...
Jen your'e scaring me here. I was just thinking of this last night and what fun it would be to try it as a challenge and wondering where I could post it. I couldn't believe it when I read this, no more wondering for me! This will be fun so now I better go find a card.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh - I dont' even want to think about my first cards - in fact I was so embarassed to have some of them even in my gallery - I deleted them recently when housecleaning.;)
Art is intended to provoke an emotion from a total stranger. If youve succeeded in this, consider yourself an artist. Paper Shanks Blog. Love me or hate me, you are still talking about me
This was a fun challenge. I have several in my gallery I would like to try and make better. I chose one that I had just loved the original idea but it hadn't turned out as well as I had imagined. I really like my remake card.
Here it is. I posted a link to the original in the description.

I did that a couple weeks ago too and now I can't come up with one I want to redo from what I have in the gallery, not that some couldn't stand a remake! Maybe tomorrow! And I thought this would be so easy!
Heres my new one! This was a great challenge! On my new one I forgot to mention in the details that I hae a new scanner too!!!! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
The original card was posted 2 days ago and I like it but kept thinking of ways to make it pop even more so here are 2 variations I came up with to try to improve it. I actually like all 3 for different reasons but think I like variation #1 the best.
Variation #1: I thought black would make the apricot pop more. I also added an additional layer with Canvas bg on it. Last I changed the French Script behind the "heartfelt" to Print Pattern bg. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Variation #2: I added another background (Floral in craft ink) on the black. This softened the whole card. Print Pattern no longer looked good so back to French Script & also changed to a softer organdy ribbon. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
This was great fun to see how the changes affected the card!
Well, I had this one waiting last night, but got too tired to think, so I saved it for today. I can honestly say I am awed by all the inspiration that I get from people on this site and have learned so much. And now I can go back to my own cards and see how they can be improved. Here's the original extremely plain sympathy card. And here's the remake. I think this was a great challenge.
For someone who thought this was such a great idea...it sure took me long enough to pick one. It didn't help that I cleaned house a couple weeks ago but this is a good one that was just to blah! The ribbons by the way didn't scan true to color but we all know how that can be.
Here is another remake for me. I chose my card from this past weeks color challenge. I changed the color on my remake but also added some other changes to make the card a little more interesting. I posted the link to the original card in the photo details.
I have the original card link posted on the description. I most certianly like this one SO MUCH better! I think it stands out more! Maybe I should "inventory" all of them?!:(
And here's the new, improved version. Again, I wasn't intending to copy the original, so the colours are slightly different. Isn't it amazing what a year can do? Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
