Default $50 to spend at PTI!!

I have $50 to spend at Papertrey Ink from a birthday gift. It's my first time ordering, and I was hoping for some advice.

I am a scrapper first, card maker second. I don't like to color images (gasp!) but I don't mind using a marker directly on the stamp to color different parts.

I want to order some of the yummy buttons, so I need to save some money for that.

There are so many sets that I like, that's it's hard for me to choose.

Ok, what would you order? What's your favorite go-to set? Thanks so much for the advice!

I think my first two sets I got from PTI were Guidelines and Forest friends.
But my favs are Wishing you and Tea Party and the new ones Bird Watching and Bird Watching additions.
I do love the buttons, and I have pretty much every color LoL....I am just crazy about buttons

I'm partial to Damask Designs. It can be contemporary, vintage, fun, serious, elegant. Just very versatile. Have fun!

I love that PTI sells the Palette Inks which is perfect for Scrapbooking. You can get a really nice variety by buying the cubes. PTI has such fabulous colors, you just can't go wrong.

Something else I personally would love to use in scrapbooks is the new Flourish set. Great to make backgrounds and to use next to sentiments or journaling.

And if you haven't tried it before, their cardstock is very sturdy. So I would buy some CS to match the inks.

Have fun shopping!!

probably you would like to spend $55 instead of $50. They have free shipping on orders over $55, with $50 order you pay $6.50 shipping.

I love all things PTI, but here are a small sampling of the sets I like:

Polka Dot Basics
Wishing You
Life
Fresh Alphabet

I don't think PTI makes a set I don't like.

You might already know this, but just in case you don't, I thought I'd mention that there is an idea gallery for each stamp set, and you might enjoy looking at those to see possibilities. When you are on the particular page for each set, there is a button on the right side of the page for the idea gallery.

PTI has coordinating ribbon also.

Great ideas! Thank you!

I will check out the gallery-I didn't know they had one. And, yes, part of the problem is that they don't make any sets that I don't like! Makes it hard to choose!

I had forgotten about Polka dot basics. I'll look at that again, and the Flourishes. Any other ideas?

Thanks so much for your quick responses!

That was my first thought too. I also LOVE Wishing You. All the cardstock and ribbon is fabulous too.
Make sure you spend $55 so you'll get free shipping.

Since you are a scrapbooker, I would recommend Mega Mixed Messages, so many wonderful sentiments!!! I think my favorite set is Birds of a Feather with Life a very close second!!! And I absolutely LOVE the buttons, the cardstock is the best!!! Good luck making a decision, I know it wouldn't be easy for me!!

Maybe the cardstock sampler for $9, you'll get a few of all the different colors. I also love the guidelines set. Alot of the ones that have been suggested to you are on my wishlist as well, like Wishing You and Mixed Messages. And can you believe I don't have polka dot basics yet? Need it!

For scrapping, you cannot go wrong with any of the background sets they have - retro, stars, guidelines, basics, damask, spots&dots.... all of these would be great and are very versatile. Mega Mixed messages for the sentiments would be good, too.

If you like flowers and leaves, I would really recommend Beautiful Blooms. I love the large leaf branch, which you could use to make an all-over background. It coordinates with their new Tea Leaves patterned paper--gotta love that.

And I use the solid and dotted individual leaves (in two sizes) all the time!

You should check out the sets by PTI's designer Heather Nichols http://pinefeather.typepad.com/pine_is_here/ I think all her sets are so well suited for scrapbooking. She lists them near the right margin of her blog. She also has a lot of scrapbooking examples in her blog. And make sure you spend the $55 ;)

I love the Life set, and can see it being used for scrapbooking as well as cards. I just ordered Friends Till the End, it's on it's way, although I don't have it yet. But seeing how the flowers are pretty big, I think it would make some gorgeous {and easy} background papers as well. My favorite colors from there are probably Hibiscus Burst and Ripe Avocado. I love their ribbon and the buttons, too. Let us know what you decide! And I'm glad someone mentioned the free shipping at $55.00!

I love Out on a Limb and Friends 'til the End. I'm not sure how good they are for scrapbooking, but those are my go to sets.

I have and love Polka Dot Basics, and I think any of the background stamps would be very useful for scrapping. I have and love Beautiful Blooms too - solid images so no coloring required. Star Prints and Heat Prints are very versatile too.

I'm not sure how much I would invest in PTI colors. They only sell the paper as 8.5 x 11 and unless you scrap that size, you might be disappointed.

I don't have any of the buttons, but I did go in on a swap so I will be getting a few of all the colors soon. I can't wait to play with them in my scrapbooks!

A floral set, like Beautiful Blooms. They are the most versatile, IMO. You can do main images with them or just some embellishments.
And one of the background sets, like Guidelines 1 or 2. They are awesome when you need just the right DP and can't find anything in your stash!

If I could only get one thing from PTI, it would be their Everyday Blessings stamp set. I have lots of "fun" sets from lots of companies, but had a really hard time finding a stamp set with a religious theme to it. Everyday Blessings has everything you need to make the kind of card I like to give for weddings, First Communions, Confirmations, Sympathy cards, Christenings, just any event you want to give a little heart to. Everyday Blessings comes with a couple of different crosses, as well as bible verses and short sayings that are perfect for the kinds of events I mentioned. I love the set and use it over and over. And "The Gallery" for this set shows how very versatile it is. I'd order it if I were you! --- I've used mine a million times.

I just got the Star Prints and Fancy Flourishes. I used them today on this card but have lots of plans for them in my scrapbooking also. If you get the Star Prints the Fiskars XL star punch is great also. I also agree with what someone else said, get $55 so you get free shipping. Might as well get some cute buttons for the $$

Wow! That card is beautiful! I love the ribbon and then the pop of color on your star. That flourish is gorgeous!

Sorry, ladies! I disappeared for a few days after posting my question! My son graduated this weekend, and my last out-of-town guest just left.

I finally placed my order with PTI. I ordered Polka Dot Basics, Boxes and Tags (loved the flowers on it), and hibiscus and old leaf buttons. I wanted to order the clear cardstock but it was out of stock, so I ordered ink cubes instead.

I ended up ordering the Boxes set b/c of the things in the gallery. One poster made a really pretty backround w/the flowers. I can see using the tags for labeling photos on my scrapbook pages, too.

Let me tell you, it was a hard choice! I looked at every set that was recommended. For some sets, I had something really similar at home so I didn't want to get them. I do have a wish list going, though!

Thanks for the recommendation to look at the gallery. That helped a lot. I also ordered $57 worth to get the free shipping. I got the ink cubes to match the 2 buttons that I got, plus the black and the white.

Anyway, thanks so much for all the suggestions! I had so much fun playing!
