My desk looks like a whirl wind went through. I try to keep it clean buy it just doesn't work for me.

"A clean desk is the sign of a sick mind." so by my standards, you are very healthy if your desk's in a whirl wind condition bwahahaha

And what's bad is...My stamp room is about the size of a shoe box.

So if I loose something.. I'm screwed!

I hear ya!!! Smallest work space ever, messiness even when I thought I cleaned up, can't find what I am working on...etc. etc. I hope that the mess shows a creative mind??!!

The clean desk is not it's all cracked up to be. I'm still looking at mine shiny desk and I'm not very inspired. While it was spotess I took a photo of it for prosperity. It'll be a long ltime before I see it look this clean once I get my motors running.

Oh and in the clean up I misplaced the car registration papers I just paid for. Arggghhh!! This can get ugly.

Is it really even possible to be creative and neat at the same time? I have been pondering this for sometime now.

I'm resigned to the fact that I'm not only a messy crafter with a cluttered craft desk, but a messy cook too. A clean kitchen bench is also a sign to me to start baking up a storm LOL. I'm highly organised in my work life, so I think crafting and cooking gives my 'messy' side a chance to get out and play once in a while. ;)

I do this too, with everything that can't be put away within reach of my desk.

I still make a huge mess while I work, but it's easy to put everything away when I'm done. I try not to start a new card or project while remains from the previous one are still on my desk. Sometimes I'm in a hurry and don't "reset" my space before each new card, but I try to avoid that because I hate working in clutter.

One important rule is to make sure everything has a home. If I can't put something away because there is no place for it, I put it to the side on my desk and then it just becomes part of the permanent clutter. So I try to make sure everything has a designated place.

To recap what we've learned so far:

*Messy crafting is NOT confined to New England but is a far-reaching phenomenon that has effected crafters in multiple US states, Canada, Australia, & Spain -- that we know of.

*Messiness may (or may not) be a sign of creative genius.

*A clean work space can be as intimidating & uninspiring as a messy one.

*It doesn't seem to matter whether one is crafting in a shoebox-sized area or an entire room -- messy is as messy does.

*Organization is more of a guideline than a code and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

* If left unchecked, our crafting mess may result in lost items -- including the project we're currently working on.

*We messy crafters are in good company.

Am I leaving anything out?
