I'm just curious to see if anyone has started their Christmas cards or gift yet for this year. Last year I was done with everything by the end of October early November but I also had a baby the first week of December. Just want to see what the "norm" is. Should I be on the ball yet or am I still good??
I'm just waiting for my "Holy Tryptich" set to arrive, then I'll be starting mine. I always find myself behind the 8-ball getting mine done because I'm always in a craft show in the early part of November, so I'm furiously stamping getting cards for that too.
Don't want to brag (yeah, right), but except for a couple special ones for my DH and parents, I am DONE with my Christmas cards!!! Of course, I'm semi-retired, and that makes it lots easier. Getting old does have some rewards, even if it's only bragging rights.

That's awesome!! You inspire me!! I need to decide which stamp set I want to use first. I'm thinking I will do a "pink" Christmas card this year. I just need to get motivated and get the ideas rolling. Anyone have any thoughts to help me?? ;)

I cant make mine until the last possible minute. I change my mnd too many times. I made over 10 different card designs last year just cause I couldnt commit.....
I just started yesterday! I've never started this eary before but I'll see if I can actually get everyone the same card for once this year. The design is super simple so I think I'll be able to do it.

In the past, I have always siad that I would start my holiday cards in October, since I make about 100. In the past I haven't started them until at least the first or second week of December!
This year, I'm starting think that I ought to think about what I want do...does that count as starting on my cards?
My Christmas cards were finished the last of August. I have so much going on in fall. Love getting mine done ahead. Actually, I did about 7 cards & picked the medallion one. You can see them all in my gallery. Some cased, some not.
I joined the christmas card challenge and so I too have most of mine done.. There is nothing wrong with having more than one design of card. Makes it easier to stamp because then you don't feel like a machine popping out the same card..
I spent the summer with my mom and one of my projects was to make my Christmas cards. I made my goal and they are done! I also made a few sets of cards for gifts. Guess that is one benefit of no internet access - I couldn't come on here and get distracted! Now I hope that when the time comes to send them, they are not lost!

I need to join the Christmas card challenge next year. I bet that really helped!

That is so cool. I bet you and your mom had a blast!! I am also planning on making sets of cards to give away as gifts. I made 65 sets of 6 cards last year for friends and family. That took me quite a while!

We did have a good time. Mom was making cards right along with me. Unfortunately, most of her cards were Sympathy cards! She is 87 and so many of her friends and some family members are dying... We took over the dining table and just pushed things aside to eat (unless we were having cmpany!),
I sent out too many last year, but I will make more...
So far, I have about 70 completed - but that's because I mail the samples I make for workshops.
In addition to the cards I make to showcase each of the SU sets I own, I've already held two Christmas Stamp-A-Stacks (20 cards) and am planning a demonstration for October (15 cards).

I was going to start mine today. Got out my stamps and ink...EP and went to get the paper..and I'm out of the colors I wanted to use!! So I put in an email to my SU Demo and as soon as I gt my papers I will start stamping.
I have 2 designs I'm using this year so I wanted to get them started early enough to get all 125 done (OMG) by Thanksgiving. Next year I'm cuting my list down I think LOL just family and people who send them to us this year. Never fails that you send cards to a family friend or whoever for years and they don't ever send you one back, I think it's time to start weedng them out of the mailing list! Maybe I should thin the list this year instead...LOL

The last 3 years, since I've started making my cards, I started Memorial Day Weekend. This year my fiance helped me, and we finished during the weekend. I make about 80 - a few more this year to include his family. In addition, I do 4 special, but similar, cards to give to my choir director, organist, music coordinator and choir librarian on behalf of the choir. My goal has been to finish them by 4th of July. I did an easier card this year. Unfortunately, I do not have a digital camera (or else I don't know enough about computers) to upload any of the cards I've done. Mostly they have been CASEd and have been in the traditional colors. The second year I did a Christmas waterfall card, and that really took a long time. I have done some shopping. I am making the purse totes and a number of cards for my 3 sisters, my 2 sisters-in-law-to-be, my 4 nieces, 5 special friends, and the 4 ladies at my job. I made most of the totes in one weekend, and the cards I've been making in spare moments. Each tote is a different color to correspond to the receipient's "favorite" colors. In addition, I made a tote that looks sort of like a brief case for my fiance in black and red. Interesting thread!
Um...I have one done. Lol. I wasn't planning on starting them yet...but I'm holding a workshop next weekend and made one for that. Well, I really like it (CASE'd most of it) so I think it's going to be one that I make muliples of. I normally make 3 different designs.
I've been doing a Christmas Card Class once a month with my customers so I've been making at least 6 cards a month. There's usually leftovers from a no-show so I make those ones to use for myself as well. I have about 30 done so far.

I had some done but then my stepmom wanted to buy them all! The ones I've made so far are one of a kind but I need to come up with something simpler to do multiples of. I will probably not have just one, LOL. I'm also in a Christmas card challenge class at the LSS and we make 4-6 cards each month August-November, so that's a decent chunk right there.
I'm REALLY feeling myself into the snow flake trend this year so I just bought my first snow flake set from SU. Once it comes, yeah... I'll be making cards.
BUT.... I still want to make little treat bags for the ghosts and gobblins for halloween. I don't want to forget about those holidays. ;)
Umm, I am the outcast here...I havent done any since I have not bought the stamp set yet that I want to use.
Oh, procrastination.....;)
I will get them done though! ;)
You are not alone, though! I have no idea what stamp set(s) I want to use. I am over the ones I used last year and none of the ones in the new SU catty are really calling my name. I did see some cute ones on the Lizzieanne designs (think that's right) website. I might go that direction since I have plenty of acrylic blocks.
I am thinking about options, but can't do mine until late October. Every year I send about 75 cards with a letter and photo of the family. My card needs to match the photo and I haven't decided what we are all wearing for pictures yet.
I know, sounds silly to be so coordinated, but I keep a scrapbook of our Christmas letters, along with the card front and pictures from each year. Kindda like our family history through Christmas letters. It is much easier to scrapbook if the colors in the card and the photo are coordinated.
I'm done! I made 75 cards, all different designs. I dont like mass producing one design, I get too bored. I've also made 25 magnets and about 20 chipboard coaster tree ornaments. Oh yes, also about 100 gift tags. I'm gonna sell a bunch of my stuff at work in November. I still have more to make, but the majority is DONE!!!!!
Wow! You girls that have yours done already are an inspiration!! I don't know if I can get in the Christmas mood yet. I'm still trying to get through the Fall. I definitely need to get on the ball, huh??
I can't decide which stamp set to use. I'm leaning towards Baby Jesus is Born, but not sure yet. I'm envious of the person who posted that they have Fluffles at their Michael's. I checked our Michael's, Joanne's and AC Moore for new Christmas stamps and they don't have anything good. They have the same old paper and stamps all the time. Definitely no fluffles, house mouse, happy hoppers or anything else that is popular.
Robyn,
When I saw this thread by you - I had to chuckle as you were my inspiration for last year to get a move on.
As to the question this year, do I get a smilie because I finished ( the ones for last year) this year? I really am a SLOW newbie stamper. You moms with little ones amaze me!!
I'm with you, I think I have 1 card done and that's only because I made one for a featured stamper challenge. I will probably make about 50 cards. I try not to mass produce because I lose my motivation but I will make about 5 of each kind. That's all I can seem to do before I get bored. Plus, I have a zillion Christmas stamps and buy more every year, they're too darn cute!
I was just telling DH I need to get a move on and finish my Halloween projects so I can get started on Christmas. For Halloween I'm making probably a dozen cards and also making some of those cute 2-4-6-8 boxes and some witches potion bottles with mini m&ms in them.
For Christmas I plan to make some treat bags and tins, plus the cards and I'd like to make a few sets of cards to give away. I have to keep the embellies to a minimum on those though because I know my mom won't want to do the extra postage on one with lots of bling!
I have ideas floating around in my head but no definite design yet. Here are my parameters so if anyone has ideas to share, I'd love to hear them.
* Baroque Motifs set
* Ruby Red, River Rock, Always Artichoke paper/ink
* some sort of ribbon
* no cutting out of teeny tiny things
* open to embossing (I did a ton of embossing a couple years ago and it got really old)
I'd like to finalize a design this weekend so I can order "stuff". I'm going with some girlfriends to a stamping/scrapbooking weekend at a Scrapbook House type place in early November.
Last year I was done by August - I took them on vacation with my when I went to my Mom and Dad's condo in Florida. I figured that I would have some down time to do some crafting.
I just started on mine this year - using City of David.
