Lightbulb Ask Beate for October 29: Using magazines in your papercrafts

Leona asked:
Quote:

"I'm wondering if there are any topics out there on using magazine pictures in card making. For example, there are so many beautiful pictures of flowers in magazines that would look beautiful on a card, but I've never heard of anyone using them or how they would use them."
Beate's made a few suggestions that will appear in tomorrow's Weekly Inkling. What do YOU suggest? Make sure to add links if you have 'em!

Faux Cloisonne is the one technique that I have seen here on Splitcoast. I think it is in the technique challenges.

My gallery has some faux cloisonne samples in there. You will find some on page 4, 5 and 6. I know I did more but I must have not posted them.

Default faux cloisonne

I just posted a card last week using this technique. I used a seed catalog and used the flowers and different greenery in the catalog for my stamping. Here is a link to my pic orange passion by Sharmill at Splitcoaststampers
Thanks for looking

Default Suggestions for using magazine pages

Magazine pages make beautiful envelopes. Simply use an envelope template to trace from, cut out, glue and you have a beautiful envelope. If you use part of the page for a card...matching card and envelope. You can use labels for the return address and address...get creative on that, too.

I enjoy using magazine pictures on my cards. I usually take a flower stamp and stamp the image with versamark on the magazine image. I then emboss the flower. I stamp the same flower image onto cardstock. I cut out the embossed flower and use pieces to highlight the cardstock image. Perfume ads often have great abstract images and colors. Plus they give you card a hint of that perfume.
