I also use those pretty photo boxes when I get them on sale from either Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Recently I bought 4 boxes and donated 100 cards to our local Humane Society fundraiser dinner/auction which is held in the fall. So yes, cards do come out of your ears after a while--even with giving cards away! I still have 4 boxes of cards for myself (1 is just Christmas cards).
If you go to Stamp TV, they show you some very cute ways to alter tissue boxes (recylcing!) and use them for card holders. If you don't subscribe, you need to, as they have great tutorials. Hope this is an inexpensive help.

I was using the shoe box size picture holders for my cards. Now I wait for a 50% coupon from Michaels and get those larger boxes that have a magnet close lid. They make them with beautiful scenes and you can get the same scene in different sizes. I stack them up high and they look like part of my craft room decorations.
Great minds think alike. I'm taking my first trip to Ikea today. These boxes were on my list for just that....storing cards. I'm also planing on storing my 6X6 patterned paper in them as well.
I have a bunch of these Ikea boxes so I can sort my cards out by occasion, but I never thought about the 6 x 6 paper pads. Thanks for the idea.;)

How does the 6 x 6 paper pads fit in there? Is there enough room to put the lid on? I think some of my 6 x 6 paper pads are slightly larger than 6 x 6 with the pad.. hmmm
I don't have a picture (but I can take one later).. but Walmart sells some storage boxes on one of their crafty aisles.. they come in white, brown and yellow. I bought some of the CD sized boxes (hinged lid), and my A2 cards fit perfectly in them. They have removable dividers. I have several of them, and have one box per theme "birthday," "Christmas," "Thank you," etc. Okay, some themes I have 2 boxes, and some, like baby cards which I have few of, I use the dividers that come in the box and sort them that way.
I love this system. The boxes are $6 each at Walmart. They are shiny cardboard but they are really sturdy. If they end up wearing out, I will go with a similar storage system. They obviously don't fit the odd sized cards, but that's okay because I only hand-deliver odd sized cards anyway-- so they're in a separate storage (just a photo box).
I also have some of these boxes to store my embossing folders, and my Nesties. They all fit perfectly.
[QUOTE=HolleyTX;17255970]Don't have a pic of it, but I often use those cool boxes that you buy to store photos in. They often sell these at Michaels, JoAnns, Hobby Lobby....anywhere from 4.99 down on sale to $2; The smaller size cards fit in these pretty easily, they stack up nicely on the shelves and you can group the cards the way they should go.
This is exactly what I do. I have a box of general greetings, thank yous, get well/sympathy, special occasions (graduation, wedding, baby, congrats etc.), and one that hold cards without any type of greeting. I don't make extra birthday cards, as each month I choose a theme and everyone gets their own special card. Same with holidays including Mothers and Fathers Day, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Halloween 4th of July. That way I always have a card ready for any occasion. If for some reason, I do end up needing a birthday card, I can use a blank card in a pinch, which has happened very rarely.
I've stored my cards in a single basket for years. Nearly every card I make is sent away rather quickly, so it doesn't get too full, too fast. However, when my hubby was in Iraq I sent him SO many cards! For Valentine's Day I sent a card each day of the month of February -- his office was jealous...but I digress. Anyway...safe to say he had a load of cards over 6 months. When he brought all those cards home (lucky for him), I put them in binders...such as were mentioned earlier. I also have a binder for inspiration cards--cards I make that inspire me...ha ha..seriously though--who knows if I'll remember it later.
And finally, while I'm making Christmas cards and storing them until sent--I put them in a box I got at a thrift store several years ago that has a Christmas theme. FUN Stuff!
I just use the empty containers from my swiffer pads. They are free and my cards all fit in just right. I also use them for storing my ink pads and nestabilities.
