Cutting up stamps
I have a stamp I bought sometime back that has 5 corner stamps in a random fashion on it. Have you ever cut up a stamp to create smaller ones? Was it successful? Do you regret it?
I was thinking about doing this one baby type stamp I got. I don't know a lot of people at my age (close to 50) having babies. There is one line on it "baby cakes" and this was my nickname at one time.
I used to have a problem doing that, like it wasn't allowed or something. Then one day, I realized, these are my stamps, if I want to cut them, I can. It was so freeing. Now if if I think a sentiment would be more useful cut into smaller pieces, why not? I can alway stamp them together if I want to. I say go for it! No regrets here.
I do it all the time. If *any* element of a stamp is separate from the rest I will cut it away so that I can use it by itself. I also did it with the Many Happy Returns and So Many Sayings sets. Instead of 3 stamps with lots of sayings, I now have 30 separate sayings. love it! I say cut them up!!!

Do you know if there's a 12-step program for stamping? No, seriously, is there??
I've often cut up stamps, especially those ones like Pun Fun (which I don't have, just an example of the type I mean) which have a sentiment right under the image. Sometimes I only want the image, or want the sentiment stamped separately. I do store them together though. Once you don't need to trim either of your cut images, then it's very easy to reassemble them on the block to stamp them in their original form again.
I cut my stamps all the time. This way you can re-arrange a layout or only use a part of a stamp. It's easier than just 'painting' a part of a stamp and lining it up. I've cut up the words off sets like 'Very Punny' and 'God is Love'. I have cut up flowers so you can re-position stems or leaves. Never had a single regret.
I did this one of my Papertrey Ink sets, Just Hatched. Cut out one of the sentiments from the oval border, so I could use just the oval border to stamp with. Frees it up for more possibilites!
yep I've done it! Lots of Thoughts comes to mind first.....waas tedious but I cut each sentiment separate
and I also had a studio g valentine set, I just wanted to use the sentiment that was inside the Rectangle w/heart - cut that baby right out of the middle! and I can still use it inside if I want to ;)

just DO IT! ;)
You cut up Lots of Thoughts!! Now that is one I just haven't steeled myself to tackle. A friend sent it to me, and I use bits of it ALL the time, but I get by with just using markers and tape for masking bits off. Maybe now I'll make the effort to actually unmount and separate them. Only then for sure I'd lose one!!

I did it!
Last night I pulled off the rubber, which came off relatively clean. Cut and trimmed, and now have 5 stamps. I soaked them with Goo-Gone, and now am cleaning them with dish soap in hot water. Will clean them up and dry them later.
