I just wanted to alert fellow stampers that my debit card is being used by someone in the UK and charging up a storm with it. I mainly order craft stuff and have Internet Security and Anti-Virus. My bank is investigating the charges and has blocked my account. I always try to use PayPal so the merchandisers will not be able to see my full account number. They believe it is someone who works for a company I ordered from that has access to my full account number and security code on the back of the card that I had entered. I just wanted to post a warning.

That stinks!! I have been there before. You should be able to call one of the credit report agencies and have a fraud alert put on your credit report. This way if anyone would try to open an account using your name the companies will be alerted and call you first to make sure that it is you opening the account. It is free of charge. You only need to call one because they will alert the other two companies to place the alert on their records.
I hope they are able to catch and stop whoever is using the numbers.
That same thing happened to be a couple of years ago. But only it happened when I upgraded my Yahoo account. Two days later. My Credit card was used in the UK for a top notch hotel suite, and they also used my credit card on other stuff to the tune of $4,000..
Later I found out the someone that took my information from Yahoo. had sold my CC information to a Underground person. Which then took my CC and use it for their personal use.
The person from Yahoo was Fired and Arrested.
I pressed Charges against this person along with about 50 others people too.

I'm SO sorry this has/is happened/happening to you! It really makes me sad that there are so many people in the world that just want something for nothing and don't care about the people they hurt in the process! {{{{{{HUGS!}}}}}}
I live in MD and we got a phone call a few weeks ago from our credit union's security branch, asking if we'd charged nearly $600 worth of stuff at a Walmart in Chatanooga. NOT! Someone stole our credit card number (we had our cards - they weren't physically lost or stolen!). I wish I could find out who did it and press charges!!
I work for a bank and see this all the time. We suggest that people who shop online open a separate checking account with it's own debit card and with only a couple of bucks in it to keep it open. Make sure you have NO overdraft limit or protection on it so if the card is stolen and used it will decline. When you plan on shopping online you transfer money from your main account and make your purchase. You may have to plan ahead just a bit if your bank has a delay or cut off time for the transfer but it's way better than having your main household account hijacked by a cyber-theif.

Do you know if there's a 12-step program for stamping? No, seriously, is there??
We are going thru this right now also...I just bought a car and hubby was getting an extended warrenty on it and gave the company his debit card info....well, they have withdrawn over $4,000 (or attempted to) out of our checking acct...luckily our bank caught on real quick and called us....they are having $100 pizza parties at papa john's...doing cash withdrawals at a bank and going and getting cell phones everywhere....we did alert the warrenty company so they are checking into it also along with our sheriff, bank and we are contacting the attorney general in California (we are in Oklahoma)....
we also contacted the crediting places to put a fraud alert on our reports, etc....
I'm so sorry to hear about these awful stories! I hope that those of you who are still in the process of sorting things out, get it worked out quickly for your benefit.
This is the reason I only use a PRE-PAID Visa card for anything I do on-line. If I decide I want to buy something I run to the gas station 2 blocks away and put just enough to cover it and come home and do my purchase. It is instant that the money is available on my card. I hope everything gets worked out for you and they find out who did this.
Sorry to hear what you're going through. I've had this happen twice - and both times had my card with me. When I reported the fraud, I was also instructed to be sure to run a credit report.

These are both excellent ideas. After hearing this, I'm going to do something about how I buy on-line. I will give both of these options serious consideration. Thanks for the warning and for the tips.
I have a seperate account at a totally different bank for my online purchases...I too want to be sure my main household account isnt stolen. I am so sorry this has happened to you ladies. We have had ours stolen 4 times in the last 5 years or so. We believe (but cant prove) that the pizza joint we used for awhile was an area of interest and now we only pay cash there. Blessings.
