Default Foam Stamp Advice

Can you use regular ink with foam stamps? I want to borrow my friends MM large alphabet but don't want to hurt the stamp. She thinks you need to use paint because they are so porous. Any advice, experience would be appreciated. Thank you so much.

You can use them with anything, just be sure to ink well. ALSO - I used to clean mine under water w/a toothbrush but some of the letters are so slim that it really bent them up. Now I just wipe them well with a baby wipe. They're stained, but so what? They're FOAM STAMPS. ;)

I use mine with craft ink. It does stain them, but they work fine. I wash them under water, but gently with a wet wash cloth and right away. I stamp and then go clean, returning to my project later.

I wouldn't try to use them with dye ink as they absorb so much you would get a really fuzzy image.

Now I'm going to overstep my bounds, but I can't help it. If your friend is really nervous about this, maybe you shouldn't risk a friendship over it. At $12, it really isn't worth getting your friend upset.

Good Luck

I stamped with staz-on with them, and they seem to be fine. So I wouldn't stress too hard about anything else. Haven't tried the dyes inks, but I can't imagine they'd be too much of a problem. Like anything, however, you'll probably need to practice with them some first. And you might need to let them dry between colors, as if they get too wet your ink can run.

If your friend's going to freak if they're stained, however, I agree with stampysister. Not worth losing a friend over.

I've used them with the Classic ink many many times and it works fine and doesn't seem to do any damage to the stamps. After I finish with a letter I stamp off the excess ink and then use regular stamp cleaner to clean off the rest. You just have to be careful with the thin ones like "i" and "l". The Classic ink is water soluble, so I can't see why it would be any worse than acrylic paint!

I have 2 sets of stamps. Right now I use the SU pads and the ink comes off fine. I am going to buy some baby wipes and try those too. Good Luck.
