Framing a Picture Question

I would like to include my daughter's photo in a few cards. I tried but could not get a good framed look. What do you use to outline your photo, once you have cut the appropriate size hole in the card?

I have done photo cards before using the Coluzzle templates. I cut a sheet of printed paper to frame the photo. We will call this the mat. Place the photo behind the mat. Then I cut the hole in the card a little larger than the hole in the mat. When the photo and mat are placed behind the
card, you get the appearance of a matted and framed picture. Here is and example:

the next to the last card on this page is done with that mat thing. Hopefully your can see what I am talking about. The black is directly behind the brown card. the horse image is behind that.
I have also decorated the edges with trim. I found something called stick stiches at Walmart.

SU!'s Fun Frames fit on the front of a card and can be stamped and attached with eyelets. I like the way this looks. I also like when the card is vertical and 2 frames are placed inside the card. It can set on a table or shelf just like any other framed pictures. I think I'm going to do something similar for Christmas cards this year.
