Default How much space does your collection of crafting supplies take up?

I just organized my office, part of my job includes scrapbooking and stamping. I fear the craft side is bigger than the office side....but that is how it should be don't you think? How much space does your crafting area take up? I really think that I should boot my hubby out of the heated shop and put it all in there! Why does he get a heated shop? Somehow I don't think he would go for that!

My craft room is in the downstairs bedroom (standard size). Half of it is my craft stuff (including the wall space) and the other half is the kid's craft stuff. Where is my husband's stuff? He has a toy stuffed moose head on the wall! He says that's his contribution.

I get one half of an unfinished bedroom in the basement. It is actually half above the ground and has a full size window facing south, so it is bright. It's also next to the laundry room so I can multi task. My room is also equipped with a TV, VCR, DVD, and a stereo. The room is ugly, but I love it.

My craft room is 22x7---long and narrow! Totally filled up and mostly just a path through it---but to be fair, i do have a recliner and TV in there too!

I have a full 12 x 11 bedroom with a huge walk-in closet and I've still got stuff (mainly yarn and fabric) stashed in my son's closet and my own closet.

Well, I'm a lucky gal. We added a large addition to our home about 8 months and I got my DD's old bedroom for my craft room now. It's small, but it's mine My room is 9' x 11'. I have every inch of space used up.

I have a daybed in here (for when we have family stay over night) and I have a craft table, a shelving unit for my stamps, and a small dresser filled with goodies. I also have a large closet in here filled with more stuff. I was thinking if I could get my husband to make shelves in the closet it would be a better use of space.

WOW! You girls are SO LUCKY! I was going to move my stuff from the shop home...I looked in every room for a spot and NOTHING! No Room! We have 4 boys and all their stuff packed in every inch of our house. I could probably put it in my unfinished laundry room, if I could find the floor underneath the 3,000 loads of laundry I have! Too busy stamping!

I actually find I get more laundry done when I'm stamping!! I have taken over a open corner in the basement (by the big windows of course) and it takes up about 8x10 (approx). But being able to hear the buzzer on the dryer is awesome - I get so much more laundry washed and dried (not nessicarily folded) by being nearby.

When I moved into my current house it was one little bookshelf that I now have my cookbooks on. Now that I have a whole bedroom (not sure of size but it's quite large) and attached walk in closet I have that packed to the brim. I laugh everytime I look at that shelf and think of my sullpies on it. I couldn't even get half of my stamps on it now. And all this was accuumlated within the last 3 years.

I agree!! I also have an apartment and no room to dedicate to my crafts. Unfortunately I am also not so good at hiding everything!! I have it all on a bookcase that was originally bought to house my overflowing cookbook collection! So my stuff is primarily housed on the bookcase and another small end table.

I started off with a very small corner in a part of our finished basement, slowly but surely I have taken over 1/2 of the finished part of the basement. The basement runs the full length of our house and 1/2 is finished the other half is unfinished. I would guess it is quite large, since we have a 3 bedroom house. Slowly but surely I am taking over the whole downstairs..heheh! I got him to make me my own cutting table, and I have 3 desk areas for my stamping stuff..lol.

I'm a lucky girl 'cause I have 2 rooms full of fun stuff. One is my stamping/scrapbooking room -- it's an extra bedroom plus a good size walk in closet. I also have a large room for my quilting/sewing stuff. It's a love/hate thing though . . . the more room I have, the more stuff I think I need!

I use my livingroom. I have 3 book cases, 4 iris carts, and a hoosier. Plus a 3'x6' table to work on. Sometimes I think I don't have enough space, but then I go through my stuff and try to pull out stuff I never use. I just made $500-600 selling stuff I wasn't using.

My husband used to say that my stamp area was a virus that was going to spread and take over the entire basement one day! ;)

I'm moving this month, and in the new home, I'm setting up shop in the first floor office room. I'm so happy to be closer to the kitchen/great room/laundry room so that I can multi-task without having to climb up and down stairs all day!

I have the whole finished basement for my stamping. I also have a spare bedroom for my sewing. I love all the space. I'll lose my sewing room eventually, when we have kids.

I have an entire bedroom devoted to crafts -- 95% is rubber stamping related.

I have the first floor office as my stampin room, it's probably 12 x 12. It has good lighting and shelves and cupboards so it's very nice but I can not keep it neat! Thank goodness it has doors because when anyone comes over I have to hide my mess. I keep trying to clean it up, but then I start playing again.

If you're talkin just about stamping, I have one room in the basement approx 10 x 10. If you're talking about crafts plus stamping, most of the 1400 sq ft basement and 90% of the 4 car garage. One of the reasons we bought this house was the room it had for my crafts. I am starting to cull out the supplies I no longer want. We're planning a huge garage sale for spring.

Lucky indeed! I'm like you. I don't have room at all at home - not even a wall. All my stash is in a linen closet and I work on the dining room table. I've been wanting to remodel my garage, but that's out of our budget at the moment.

I have what the lifemate calls the "Big Den" just because it's bigger than his, poor baby, but he's not getting my santcuary. I work from home so I have a full desk dedicated to work, and small TV, and my work area looks out onto a park.

It's 11 x 15 and jammed packed but totally organized but it's always a mess. Everything has a place and labeled. I think I've become an organizer junkie - I love finding new storage things but they have to be clear, white, black, or red as my favorite color is red.

I've put up all the shelves, made my work table from putting some legs on counter tops from Home Depot, and my poor tall counter just sits on 7 tall Iris carts. I also made my own acrylic stamp pad rack because I couldn't find one that would fit. I'm dreaming of the day when I can have a counter and permanent desk top installed. Oh what I wouldn't give for a professional job.... but alas, I keep spending the stamping budget on stamps, pads, paper, oh my!

When we finished our basement last year, I moved my craft stuff into the slightly larger bedroom down there (10x11), but quickly spilled over into the guest bedroom next door. Guess I will have to clean that out for the guests that are coming in May! But where will I put all the stuff?

I have a one bedroom apartment with a kitchen/living room combo. Let's just say I don't have a living room. It is a small area but my cubes are all set up and labeled, I have a craft table and an iris cart. LOVE not having it all in my bedroom...at least for now its staying this way!

I stamp in a 8' wide 4' deep 12' high closet! I also have a Iris cart and 6.5' x 4'
cabinet. Every inch is neatly stuffed with all I treasure!

Lucky girls with rooms of your own! I'm off to sulk in my closet.......

OK. Wow...but my favorite one was this!

"well, i don't want to say i have alot of stuff, but the family lives in my craft room and i have the other 7 rooms for me LOL"

Now THAT is dedication to the craft! I love reading about the way everyone makes their space work perfectly for the situation they are in! It's all about the art....

My son married and moved out so I will have a bedroom maybe 10 by 10 mostly for my projects - he left a big Cargo computer desk and hutch that I plan to use for my work surface - it is really a heavy duty piece of furniture and I should be able to press those punches on there. A friend gave me about 6 white cubes that I will store stuff in. I have a old fashioned "typing table" with flip up ends on wheels that I move around to provide room at a right angle to the desk or table where I am working. Can't afford to buy anything or paint or anything yet, but will at least, eventually, have SPACE to craft. Hang in there, ladies, your time will come.

Before we moved cross country I had the whole garage that we renovated. It was very nice! Now I have the sunroom which is 11 x 12. That forced me to actually organize everything much better and everything has it's place. Before the space was nice but it gave me a reason not to stay to tidy. I have no choice now, if I don't I cant play.

Either I have too much stuff *GASP* or not enough room to put it!

I have a bedroom for my crafting- and my sewing stuff lives in the dining room. I keep telling DH it's because the table is best. When he is away I spread over the house, just because I can. I do need to cull some of my craft supplies. We have a 4 bedroom house and it only just seems big enough for the both of us. 6 people lived here before we moved in!

When my daughter moved out she moved the last piece of furniture out at 5:00 pm on Friday and by 5:00 pm on Saturday I had the room set up as my craft room. It's about 10 x 12 and set up for both paper crafts and polymer clay. Not as organized as some of you ladies but I can find everything and everything (pretty much) has a place. And my husband is of the attitude that as long as I'm in my craft room, I'm not getting into trouble. Isn't he cute?

I have a 3rd floor bedroom, have no idea of the size - and an extra dresser in the other 3rd floor bedroom... and a few bins in the 3rd floor hall closet - but those are mostly full of photos. The room also has an old dining room table in it - with a leaf so I have a workspace. And somewhere there is a twin bed too. Just talking about it makes me want to get up there and move more things around. It's never really "done" being organized.

But I know I couldn't have it anywhere else in the house, I am a spread it all out girl when I am working on something and I hate putting things away when I am not done!!
