Sooo I went in Micheal's and in the clearance section they had a big kick. I was so excited. Then I noticed that the area next to the arm was cracked. I got it for 20$.
When I got it home I started to google about purchasing the plates for it. It didn't come with any cutting plates and the cost of the plates plus the machine, I could have bought a brand new big shot .
I'm not even sure which plates to buy for this thing. I think I will have to chunk it :(.
My thoughts exactly. I'd at least try to return it!

It would be a shame to buy the plates & the platform to have it not work. Do you have any friends who would lend you or let you bring your Big Kick over so you could try their Multipurpose Platform & Plates in your machine?

I have the Big Kick and the plates/platform are what I use. It is essentially the same machine as the Big Shot.
I would definitely see if you could borrow some to try in your machine though, because of the damage. No point in buying them and then have your machine not work. I hope it still works for you!
I hope it works out for you, those are always difficult decisions to have to make while shopping. I've taken similar risks and it has proven to be a savings, hopefully with a coupon you'll come out on the plus side too!
The receipt doesn't say no returns. I'm going to try to return it at a different location. Unfortunately I am the only one who crafts so I can't ask anyone to try it out. There are several goodwills in the area I may check there first. I read some found there machine there for 6.99.
Read the box. If it says it comes with plates and the platform and they didn't tell you any different, then they should refund your money. Clearance doesn't mean broken or missing parts.

I was just going to ask if your receipt says "No returns." Does it say anything like as is, or does not incl. plates? That seems like a lot for a machine that is cracked and does not incl. plates. If they refuse to return it, I would definitely ask for a manager. To pay for something that you cannot use, no way. It shouldn't have even been out to sell. Just my opinion!
Sizzix is an awesome company. Just write them and they will replace, no questions asked.. They may ask for photos or a ship back but they will replace your losses.
