I was just curious if anyone else has had the same experience as me. Which is the need to buy stamp set after stamp set which means no one stamp set ever really gets used to it's potential. The other day I was wondering how many stamp sets I had. Counting them I have roughly 110 and I was first introduced to Stampin' Up! 2 years ago come April. Among those 100+ stamp sets are some ones that I REALLY love, but because I have this insatiable need to keep getting new stamp sets (especially after perusing SCS's site and seeing what someone did w/a particular stamp set) those favorites keep getting pushed further and further to the back of the pile. I could probably go another year w/o buying any stamps and have plenty of inventory to create some very nice cards ten times over, but....what fun would that be?
Yep.
It's an addiction.
Some days I actually force myself to make a card with a set I've not used in a long time.
I've really narrowed down my collection though. I now have a manageable amount of sets that hopefully will all get the attention they deserve!
I've had the same problem! I have so many sets that I rarely use! That's why I started the "Less Loved Stamp Set Challenge" or LLSSC. It's all about taking out the really old stamp set that you haven't used in ages! Check out my blog for more details (there are prizes involved).
Happy Stamping!

something I had to force myself to do is to buy paper and accesories and the like to use with my stamp sets. For Christmas when I spent my money, I bought 17 packages of paper. What good is the stamp sets without the paper, ribbon, etc to use it with, ya know? Do I still want all the stamp sets, you bet! But I use the ones I have more if I have the right stuff to use with them!

Of course! It's why we're here, right! To get enabled. LOL
Now I force myself to spend less than half of my stamp money on actual stamps. The rest goes for accessories, paper, ribbon, etc. Now that I have too many--oops, I mean *so* many--stamp sets, it's easier for me to say, "That one's not quite my style" or "It's too much like one I already have."
Me!! I think I am part collector, LOL! I just placed my $30 order to get my half price sets, and I got paper, ink, a punch and (whispering) one itty bitty little 9.95 set. See, I just HAVE to add to my stacks of sets.
I like all of your responses--I got a lot of chuckles out of them. Even though I didn't mention it, I too have had to start cutting back on stamp sets when I order and force myself to get accessories and paper instead. It's not all bad, I still get really excited waiting for the UPS truck and my package of STUFF, and not to mention a little bit uneasy if it is due to deliver when my husband is home. (I like when I can sneak a package into the house, that way I feel he can't keep as good of track of my obsessive hobby.)
I have to agree, half the fun is the collecting. I have been trying to limit my orders to one or two sets and lots of accessories. That reminds me I need ribbon!!!! Time to make another order in the New Year! LOL

I sell sets that I don't use. I sell partial sets and keep just the stuff that I love. For nearly a year I have funded my addiction by simply selling what is not used to make more money and room for the new.
I love almost every set. So I trade for them, and then, you are right, I do not get the use out of them. Then, I realize I have too many I will never use, and trade them off. It is a vicious circle! But fun!
while you all are here discussing the sets you don't use, does anyone have a set or partial set of flamingos or penguins that they would sell? Or even lend for exchange for some cards? My sweetie likes both birds and I'd love to make some cards or stamp some stuff for scrapbook pages for him. PM me if you're interested. Thanks and God bless,
Victoria

lol! thats how I am! my hubby is ok with my addiction but when he starts to add it up hes like wait a minute! lol. I'm feeling good that with my SAB order I will have "everything" I "need" till the new mini caty comes out! than I hope to slow down a bit I have just started getting into stmaping with the 2006-2007 SU caty so I felt like I needed to get a lot and catch up! but now I have a wide range of fun stuff. now my Hubby says I need to buy less and get creative and make lots of cards!
I agree with all the above comments. My theory is the one that dies with the most sets wins. I just had a SU party at my house and I did really well. I was quite close the top sales and I just had to spend that little extra to get more free stuff. My teenagers had a family room. The key word there is "had" It's now my play room. Oh well, they will be gone soon. lol.
Last week when my internet was out, I spent the evening looking through all the card images I had saved to my computer. Over and over I kept seeing cards made with sets that I "had to have" and have only used once, or some never at all. I decided then that I was not going to join our stamp club again next year, but would try to focus on using the much loved and beautiful sets that I already own. It really made me feel guilty.
I had thought about having an SAB party to get some of the new sets, but none of them interest me much. So I might still host a party but let my sister get all the benefits to help grow her collection. I would still benefit when she and my nieces make cards for me!!
My New Year's resolution is to start using those dusty sets in my closet!

Ditto. It's such a shame that so many stamps are languishing in my craft room--stamps I just HAD to have and still look at longingly!

I'm with ya sister...at last count I was up to over 250 SU sets alone (that includes Bkgds. and Alphas.) That is not including my new stuff from winter mini or SAB preorder as a demo.
that also does not count... loose stamps....3 drawers full or TAC and CTMH sets.
Can some one PLEASE start a "STAMP BUYERS ANONYMOUS"?????????????
I've got so many SU sets that aren't even mounted yet(and probably never will be).And that doesn't count my addiction to A Muse,Inky Antics,Art Impressions,Judith,etc,etc,etc.................... .........
I too am a collector but not so much a user! I lurk around on ebay trying to find sets that people don't post correctly. If they misspell Stampin Up, or post with the title Stamping Supplies, etc. I've found some GREAT deals.
