Why, why...WHY? I knew better and did it anyway dang it.
I haven't used my gel plate in forever but had an idea I wanted to try so pulled it out yesterday morning. Keep in mind was crafting on the fly as I had someplace to be that morning. My idea worked well and my pull is awesome looking but...
I had taken the plate out of the packaging, placed it directly onto my silicone mat and then left it there all day. I've already made this mistake once and have a small warp distortion in one corner of my mat from when I first purchased my gel plate. That should have been a lesson learned moment right? Apparently not because this time the warping is a larger area smack in the middle of my mat. I knew what would happen and even the why but I forgot and did it anyway. I am so mad at myself right now.
...at least this is Texas and summer has arrived. I'm going to leave the mat out in the sun to see if it will "bake" and flatten out some.
So is anyone brave enough to tell me a "Can't believe I just did that moment" to make me feel better?
How about coloring an image and having it turn out perfectly and deciding to stamp over it to emphasize the lines while my inner voice is saying noooooooo, you're going to ruin it! And yes I had it in my MISTI and no I didn't align it quite right and yes it ruined the panel :(
Remove slightly crooked panels when I know I'm going to rip the paper, yup they rip.
Leave an open jar of embossing power where it can be knocked over and knock it over.
O.k., this isn't a scrapbooking story, but this is how my days are going! I have managed to lose the first cd to a book on cd set. There is NO Telling where I put it. And I lost a bag of three hot dog buns. How do you lose hot dog buns? Hubby and I searched the whole kitchen. It's not like there was anywhere for them to hide. I must have accidently thrown them away. I'm blaming hormones. Oh well! I just get goofier every day! lol...
Oh we ALL do those things! Just about the time you think ahh, I am getting wiser... wham. Note to self: never think I have gotten wiser. I just prove I haven’t.
I have a warp in my mat too..but I dont do gelli plate and I dont remember how I did it. Maybe I put it standing up on edge while cleaning my desk and then leaving it like that all day bc I got distracted by real life? Does that stop me from still doing that? No.
Stamping upside down on a card or putting down a layer upside down. How many times does one need to do that before making a point of KNOWING which way is up?
Just today-cut a back layer to go behind a pretty die cut-1/4 inch too short. I dont think I have to say where you can see it right?
Thanks y'all, I've made a few of the boo boo's mentioned as well. Life does have a way of reminding us to not get too cocky doesn't it. That mat is sitting on the the table on the back porch right now and everytime I look out the window and see it I just want to cry.
I wonder if I were to lay it in the bathtub and cover the area with baking soda or something if it would absorb some of the oils so it can shrink back to almost flat again. What do y'all think?
I wonder if you can lay paper towels on it and go over it with a warm iron, if the paper towels would absorb some of the oil. Use your own judgement though. I don't want to suggest anything that could ruin your mat.
I've heard to use kitty litter on oil in a driveway, but not sure if it would work on a mat.
lay paper towels on it and go over it with a warm iron
It's heat resistant so maybe...

use kitty litter
Never occurred to me. Lol, I can already envision the conversation:
me - I need to buy some kitty litter
dh- why we don't have a cat
me- to unwarp my mat
dh- to what?!?! as he then walks away shaking his head with a "I don't want to know" look.
I was so excited to get my new Shimmer Powder, that I didn't clear off my table like I should have. That little voice told me to take the extra minute...but of course I didn't. Because of that, my 'Heartfelt Thoughts 3' card in my gallery has purple crystal dots on it now--to hide the shimmer powder that flew on it!!!

Now that weve made you feel better, jeres a link to the Frugal Crafters recipe for a permanent gel plate. I made mine two years ago and keep it in a reusable cake pan with a cover. It still works fine. Mine is 9x12. I may make a smaller one at some point.

I actually understand about the hot dog buns. Do you have boys if so maybe they ate them. Also check the trunk of your car sometimes we forget a grocery bag in the trunk. Next check your receipt from grocery store and make sure you really purchased them. I know it sounds weird but it happened to me at Walmart that I swear I had purchased cottage cheese but it ended up not being on my receipt. I even looked at it in the store but must have not put it in the cart.
The most painful (IMO)....make a gorgeous card and mistakenly stamp your name on the back UPSIDE DOWN! There is no way to correct it or cover it up. You might be able to salvage the front and attach to another card base, but the original piece can not be saved.
When I was shimming a new intricate die in my Cuttlebug I knew I was pushing my luck when it was getting tight, but I did it anyway and "BANG"!!!, I broke my bug. :( Hubby and I took it apart but the cast metal was totally separated. My feelings were eased a bit when awhile later a 55% off coupon at Michael's appeared... enter my new Big Kick. :-D

My friend has an oops stamp for just those occasions. She says her cards arent complete unless she uses it ;)
If you stamp your name upside down on the back of the card, just do it again on a small piece of card stock and glue it over the top of the first one. Works for me because I have done it, too!
When I can't find something, my husband asks if I've looked in the refrigerator. Nine times out of ten he's found what I'm looking for and put it in the fridge just so he can ask the question! Nut!
I have made many of these mistakes. What REALLY drives me nuts though, is when I mistake the SAME mistake on the SAME card more than once. In other words, make the mistake, start a new card and make the same mistake again. My record is three. This is VERY painful......lol!

...sure its got a catchy beat, but can you stamp to it?
life is something that happens only when you run out of cardstock
I used a stencil of a bird on a tree branch in my journal once and then realized I'd done it upside down. A few weeks later we got unexpected snow even though it was almost April. I used my "mistake" to create a very pretty springtime page that was upside down. I then wrote, "life is upside down right now, where is spring?" It is written correctly, aka upside down to the picture.
Now my mistake makes me smile and is one of my favorite pages in that journal because it signifies the unexpected can always happen (snow) and to find a way to make mistakes (upside down graphic) in life work.
Spend fifteen minutes looking for your tape roll only to find it is in your hair.
Rest your elbow in your ink pad.
Turn on the fan because your hot and start working with glitter.
Take your water spray bottle and spray it on your cardstock to realize it was your glass cleaner.
Spend an hour in tears your Cricut is not working to realize you plugged your Cameo in instead of the Cricut.
Rinse your paintbrushes in your ice tea glass.
Lose a whole ream of white cardstock. Only to find it a month later with your glitter paper. Find it after you go buy another ream of cardstock.
Have your wet washcloth on the table you use to wipe your hands with. Realize that is not your washcloth but your dog's slobbery sock she has been playing with.
Yes, thanks for the laugh...with you I hope....I am sure at the time they weren't very funny, but in hindsight very humorous. I have found things I was looking for in my hair too.
I've never turned on the fan when using loose powdery stuff or glitter. Yeah right, happens all the time;) The rag that turns out to be the dog's play sock would send me over the edge of ick zone, actually think I arrived there just reading your post.
Stacy- Trust me the sock sent me over the edge too, lol. Thank gosh she has outgrown the sock phase. Now, she brings in her bones so I can step on them.
 Ouch! I was thinking about when you got her and realized how old she is now, wow.
One time I found a stamp clear across the room on the floor of a rather stuffed closet. How, when, why?? Haven't done the stamp in the fridge one...yet.
Stacy- Little gremlins run off with those stamps and store them in crowded closets. I am convinced of it. Can you believe she is five now? She still thinks she is a puppy.

Mandatory photo! A dog that makes me - and I'm sure others - laugh that hard due to an unexpected slobbery sock deserves a stage call and round of applause.
Well dang pushed post too soon. I have a semi weird but I'm keeping it story this time:
One time I got the most interesting paper as packing in a shipment. It is more newsprint like in weight but is a mottled green color and is about the width of paper towels. In fact that is how I stored it, wrapped around an empty paper towel tube (thank goodness I'd saved one of those). There were several strips, each a couple of feet long - ish. I had completely forgotten about it, for some reason I put it in the back of that overstuffed closet. I'm moving it to the cabinet that I keep paper in.

I have an L feed printer, and having that rear feed gets used a lot-envelopes, front and inside of cards, sentiments that I don't have stamps for. This morning before work (6:00am) I was rushing to make a card for a co-worker, and as I put a small (6x2) piece of cardstock in the rear tray, I thought "I wonder if this will go thru or will it jam". It jammed, and I spent 10 minutes(when I should have been fixing my lunch) trying to get it out. It will be waiting for me when I get home. Ben Franklin was right-haste makes waste.
I have realized I am a dork and I uploaded the pictures to a place where you can't view them, lol. I am sorry guys. I thought Google had shared viewing since you know they have these things called Blogs. ! I think this falls under Knew Better Did Anyway.
Let's try this again-
I do have Instagram but right now it is set to private until I can get a better phone camera since mine is dying a slow camera death.

Doing something in a hurry, a.k.a. on the fly never equals quick. It usually means 3 times longer to do instead. You would think I've learned that by now but nope I always fall for that little voice whispering "you've got time go ahead". Then I promise myself to not wait til the last minute next time, r i g h t ;)
Lylacfey you are half there one photo worked and one is being blocked by my virus software and yes I know programing glitch. Made me laugh though to see the cat looking on as the dog rolls around on her back. I can just imagine the thoughts going thru the cat's mind.

Aww, great photos! The second one (face) looks doxie-ish, the first not so much? Puppy love.

My husband's wonderful black lab had to be put to sleep last October. I have a 5 year old yorkie we both love. And my husband brought home a golden retriever puppy. She is so cute and needed rescued because she is missing her front paw. But her name should be, Poopy, Pee, Bitey or Chewer. I knew better and did it anyway. We had such a good life.....sigh.
Stacy- Thanks for letting me know about the photo. Mine is not picking up the virus glitch. That is frustrating. I made sure this was a very legitimate site. Of course mine is not going to pick up a virus glitch since it's practically Fort Knox for my work. I never see what everyone else sees. That can be frustrating at times. I can tell you what the cat is thinking. "I am so taking that toy." She really does. She grabs the toys and runs off with them. Then chaos ensues. It is hysterical. Bones are safe. She thinks those are really gross.
jeannemlehrman- You are such an angel for taking in the retriever. I am sorry about your DH's lab. Puppy retrievers are the best chewers in the world, lol.

That is one of the versions of upside down I was talking about. Now I tend to do that stamp first. LOL
But...you could also cover it with a sticker you do the stamp on right side up too. Depending on how dark your name stamp is, you might need two stickers or color the sticker bg.
If you are really clever (not me) you might be able to act like it was on purpose and make it look like a reflection?
I remember a pair of twin kittens we had....they would race around the perimeter of the LR at high speeds and scare mom they were going to knock stuff over....I would joke and stand in the middle and call it like a race. "Whimsy has the lead, now Ditto has taken it in the corner..."
Got Tim's stamping platform now. On the box it says the magnets are very delicate and be careful because they will hurt. ;) I can confirm this. Took them out of the box and they slammed shut on my pinkie finger!!!! You know this was a brilliant move to remove my magnets at the same time. Oh, in case you didn't know they really stick together. The magnets are no longer allowed to be friends and they have to stay in their separate corners.
