Please pm me! I have layer ease that I'll sell you, cheap! I HATE IT! I have read other posts ( on this forum) of people who love it. I think that's it, you either hate it or love it. Unfortunaely, I fall into the hate it catagory.

I absolutely love mine. I use it alot. It allows you to layer anything no matter what shape it is. For those times that you free form cut a title and then want to matt it perfectly.
The only thing I regret about my Layer Ease is I didn't order it a year before I did.
Two thumbs up on this product.

I love mine - it just took a while to learn which side should be up !!!
and that the layers need to be glued together. I use a very fine point pencil, and a light touch, go slow around curves. It's another one of those Why didn't I think of this gadgets?
I adore my layer ease! You need to make sure that when you use it the object you are layering is really stuck to the mat you are layering. If not, it is really hard to draw around the object because it will slide. I find if you do it this way you will not have any problems with the layer ease. I also store mine in a ziplock bag. The magnet is great but the layering pieces are small and could easily be lost. Another thing is to make sure that your pencil is straight up or at a 90 degree angle to the paper. If you follow these tips then you should not have any problems!
The discs are different sizes and they have a hole in the center. You adhere your image to be matted on the cardstock. You place a sharp pencil in the hole and trace around the image. The layer ease discs are various witdths and they have a kind of lip that glides along the edge of the mounted image. this gives you your instant mat. Hope this post and the one above explain it. I wish I could demo it for you. It is kind of a see then do kind of thing!

One tip that may change haters into lovers....so to speak. Place a large sheet of magnet stuff (technical term) under the item you're layering. It will make the discs have less of a tendency to slip.
Ok this may seem silly to some of you but I have never seen this and I am thinking about buying one. Once you trace around the image with the layer ease and a sharp pencil, do you need to cut around the mat with scissors?? Just not sure if my mat would be very even if I have to cut them out??
Once you trace around the image with the layer ease and a sharp pencil, do you need to cut around the mat with scissors?? ... ... Thanks
Yes, after the line is drawn lightly via the layer ease, just use your SU paper snips to get into even the teeny turns. Although I don't use my Layer Ease every day, or even every week, I do appreciate it for what it does, and I'm definitely glad it's there when I want a layer that isn't the usual 1/8" or 1/4" straight sides.

Leney, thanks for the explanation, but let me see if I have this right. The Layer Ease goes around the outside of the item to be matted - correct? So does it rotate around like a wheel? Thanks again!
Hawaiicrafter,
Yes, it rotates like a wheel..... imagine putting your pencil in the hole of a "1-hole" flat button. The edge (circumference) of the disk has a little bitty 'groove' in it, designed to go along the edge of the paper you wish to layer. Patience seems to help, as you slowly 'draw' as though you are outlining the main image piece.
