SO:
The new colors are:
Always Artichoke: a dark Ivy color
Apricot Appeal --A really soft orange
Bashful Blue: A softer bliss blue
Bravo Burgundy: Less red than baroque burgundy
Certainly Celery: a more yellow green
Elegant Eggplant: replaces eggplant envy: a richer violet shade
Handsome Hunter: Replaces forest foliage, less blue, more natural shade
Pixie Pink: Replaces positively pink
Pumpin Pie: a beautiful dark ornage
Regal Rose: replaces rose romance
Sahara Sand: neutral line, sand color
So Saffron: A new yellow, think a lighter more mustard.
RETIRED COLORS: Mint Melody, Mauve mist, and Marvelous Magenta.
Noooooo! Not the mauve mist! That's one of my favorite colors, and one of the first ones I bought. The new regal rose is okay, so long as it's as good as rose romance, because that's another one of my colors. I'm most intrigued by the new oranges and greens, but will hold judgment until I can actually see them. On one hand I'm kind of bummed after having just acquired some of my missing colors that will now be replaced, but also glad there are still a couple that I am missing (like magenta and positively pink).
I guess we really should be careful what we wish for, huh?

Well, I am grateful for knowing this. It gives me more time to save for everything.;) It just gets me more excited for the next workshop or stamp camp when I can actually see the colors my demo will be showing.
As for the information being leaked out, well it comes with the territory of being on a very large website. Everyone comes here to find out the latest and greatest.(techniques, ideas) I think we all may do that on different levels. We watch the news channel that we think is going to give us the latest updated news. We go to the stores that we know may put out their sales sooner than a competitor. We wait to buy something that someone mentioned will be on sale next week. I'm sure the stores don't like that information being let out but it happens. Is it right?? Maybe not but in the end I think everyone "wants to be the first to know".
Just an opinion....not worth much, so don't worry about exact change.:p
When I first saw this thread, I took it with a grain of salt. It only had three or four responses a few hours ago. I mean, the news was SO huge that I wondered whether it could be a hoax.
While I am very excited at the prospect of new colors, it makes me sad that I won't have all the ink colors anymore once the new catty comes out! That was always the one comforting thing as I looked through the gallery -- with the exception of reinkers, I had all the inks, and thanks to assortment packs at least one sheet of each CS color so I could try out most of the examples I found.
I love all the things I learn here since my demo is far away (knowing the March special sets and being able to see samples with the various stamps from the mini catalogs was great!), but I definitely feel for all the demos on this one -- shame on squeaky for stealing everyone's thunder like that!
Okay, must get off the computer and head to work now. See you all later tonight!

By my list, there are 8 colors that are discontinued:
rose romance
marvelous magenta
forest foliage
baroque burgandy
eggplant envy
mint melody
bliss blue
mauve mist
Is that right? Does anyone have anything different?
I'm really looking forward to seeing the new colors. I think it was long overdue. But I do wonder about the markers, pastels, etc. HMMMMMM.
I understand both sides of the issue! As a non-demo, I don't feel betrayed that my demo didn't tell me first!
Also demos, how many of your customers hang out here anyway? I frequently stamp with 4 different large groups of stampers and only 3 of us stampers have even checked out SCS. I think you will still have LOTS of surprised customers!
This is a good thing, even though I just completed all the colors for all of the products and my stamp pad caddy just arrived on Monday!
Hey, Cathy,
I was teasing about lying to my demo!! Don't take me seriously! I wouldn't do that to her. I am number #811 of this website (note my join date: August, 2003)!! I didn't learn about this site from my demo (it was Nuttnhoney.net that I got it from), SHE learned about it from me!! LOL! I have spent three times the money I would have on SU! products if it weren't for this site, too. This kind of news just builds anticipation in your customers and MAKES THEM SPEND MORE MONEY! (Oh, yes, Julie, I was shouting!) My 2 cents!
we can pre order new color ink pads and cardstock on May 15-June
30th
ink pads 4.95 us
cardstock 4.50 us also new graphics on the front end of ink pads
DEMOs (& their sisters if they share- Hi Mama K) can preorder to present to their customers in person. I saw nothing in my SS about customers preordering. Please don't get people's hopes up! Usually preordering is a 1 per demo thing so that we can present it at the PROPER time in a upbeat manner. Think of how many ladies here are upset because they "just" got something that is being discontinued. I felt a little that way myself since I had just gotten Pos. Pink & Marv. Magneta inkpads in my last order. But after thinking about it for a little while, I'm glad I did. I'll be able to showcase them in my next few shows where they'll be "Only available while supplies last!"

Reason: stupid misspellings
Gang--My demo sent out an email to us earlier this afternoon. So whether Squeaky spilled the beans or not, I probably would have been asking about it. There's just no way you could have kept this from your customers in order to play games about guessing the names! Keep in mind that not all demos will be making a huge event of the new colors, therefore you never really had a chance. Only if all demos had planned to "go live" on the same day would it have worked. Maybe you should suggest that to SU for the next go around. I'm sorry that your event had some of the cache rubbed off, but I'm glad my demo told me ASAP!

I am so excited I can't stand it! The only bummer is that my demo/best friend (Jan.stamp) is on vacation. This is going to drive her crazy - but for once I get to tell her exciting stamping news!
This has also gotten me really exicted for the new catalog - to see what else this great company has up their sleeve! And here I was thinking I had just about all I needed! HAH!!!

GOTTEN you excited...HA this is just adding to it for me!!! LOL
For every good thing someone has to be there to ruin it right. This is not general knowledge yet!!!
I don't think anything has been ruined here. This is great news to share and not all your customers will see this thread. Plus, like someone mentioned, us customer's can't preorder the new colors. We still have to wait and see them AFTER you demos can get your hands on them. Personally, I'm glad someone leaked. I'm excited about the new colors (no less so than if my demo had told me) and can't wait to see them. Maybe this thread can be moved to the demo forum and plug the leaky tire! PSSSTTT!!! (that's supposed to be the leaky noise)
Demos, take heart! If the ONLY thing your customers were interested in you for was information, they would have moved on long ago. My demo is so much more to me than a link to the latest stuff and catalog info. She is an encourager, an inspiration, and a teacher. Those are the things you should focus on with your customers, not making sure they don't hear something before you tell them. To me, the fact that people are so interested in what's new is a good sign of your job security.
These colours sound great and, as an EE kind of girl, may I just highlight that only one colour was added to that category (and the movement of the navy, which only makes sense). I think that means that EE was soooooo close to being perfect...
[QUOTE=lovemykids]What about the color caddy?????? Yikes!
I am so glad to see that we are getting some new colors and shades of some the older colors but I was just getting some things around for scrap night and realized that the spots will be affected too , I really dont want to have to buy 4 new sets so that I can have the newer colors in the spots size I really like to take these with me when I cant stamp at home ... I did send a note to Demo Support and made that suggestion that they could offer the new colors singley so that that we dont have to re-invest in new sets just to get the newer colors I too am wondering about the color caddy I was going to get it this quarter butt, I am thinking maybe they might change it accomidate the new number of pads ,..... thinking I just might have to hold off until the new caddy arrives
Bonnie

Regardless of new colors, I'm hoping the come out with a new color caddy. The current caddy isn't very versatile. It only holds SU pads. What about our Versamark, Encore, or Kalideacolor pads? I really hope SU has taken some customer feedback to heart in time for the new catty.
But I'm totally jazzed about the new colors! They are not retiring a single one I'm really bummed about. Well, maybe Bliss Blue but I'm betting Bashful Blue is a good replacement! I can't wait to see the new colors!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can understand how you demo's feel, but to honest with you, if it wasn't for SCS I would never know about any of these things. I rarely hear from my demo. I have probably spent close to $500. since the first of the year, but everything comes from my initiation. Just once I would like to have her call and ask if there's anything I need or offer me an inspiration sheet for a stamp set I've purchased. Everything I learn about Stampin Up comes from this website. Just venting a little. Sorry.
So do I have it right that they are ADDING? For example the list says Bashful Blue but says nothing about retiring Bliss Blue. It is confusing because at the bottom it lists only Mint, Mauve, and Magenta as retiring but in the text it says that some others are being replaced (retired?) but also sounds like some will just add to what is there.
Second question--I assume they will keep reinkers for these retired colors around for a few years for those of us who just bought those colors? If not, how long does ink keep and I will buy several of each color?
bliss blue is replacing bashful blue... they are so similar that they are considered a true replacement (updated look of an old fave), whereas mint, mauve and magenta are truly going goodbye forever ;)
I seriously seriously doubt they will keep reinkers around If you want 'em, I'd get 'em now while the gettin's good ;)
YAHOO!! I am so excited about the new colors -- can't wait to see.
Thank you squeakyleaky for sharing the info. The only sad thing I see is that you feel you have create a new id to avoid the wrath of the self-appointed demopolice
Thanks for your willingness to share with everyone!!!!!
Please don't be so hard on "Squeakyleaky". I understand the demo's may have wanted to break the news to their customers themselves, but I for one have a wish list made up already with the new colors! And I do not regret buying Marvelous Magenta! I'll still be using it, even if you guys can't demo it. Can't wait to see the new purple! What about new stamp sets? Any scoop? Are ya hearing cha-ching, cha-ching?
You're still cool in my book, mamakimberly, even tho I still use my cutter bee scissors for cutting rubber AND paper!
By my list, there are 8 colors that are discontinued:
rose romance
marvelous magenta
forest foliage
baroque burgandy
eggplant envy
mint melody
bliss blue
mauve mist

I'm counting nine colors, the eight you listed and Postitively Pink(being replaecd by Pixie Pink), makes nine.

Mmmm I am glad you have a nice wish list going... LOL!!!! ;)
Thanks for sharing.
My demo called and said, I guess you have already read it on SCS. LOL!
I had been gone most of the day! Thanks for sharing! I am glad you were leaky!
I want to say Thanks to Squeakleaky too! I would have been really mad if I had spent money, and then found out they were discontinuing or changing my product. I think you are terrific for telling us. Thank you!!
I feel pretty certain that any Demo would be sure to tell a customer who was about to order something that was affected. We aren't evil, ya know! ;) ;)

I am puzzled...why does having a product be discontinued make it "unusable"? There isn't a "use by" date on it and there isn't some official that will show up on your door step and say, "You're under arrest for using Mint Melody AFTER it was discontinued!" ;-) The products are still perfectly good...the color doesn't automatically fade away once it's discontinued.
Yeah, if you want to keep coordinating your colors and using your ink pads, you will have to stock up on the cardstock, buy a reinker or two and hunker down, but I'm sure there will be LOTS of demonstrators who will be happy to sell their discontinued products...but only AFTER the new catalog comes out. ;-) The products will still be available for a while, even if they are discontinued. In the meantime...this change affects demos only and even we can continue using our soon-to-be discontinued products in workshops and other settings up until June 30th or so. And after that, we have the option to sell to those who still wish to buy.
And if you've ordered something within the last 30 days that is going to be discontinued and if you haven't opened it, you CAN do an exchange order through your demo. You will have to pay to ship it back to SU!, but parcel post is not that expensive and if it matters that much to you, it's a small price to pay to make sure you have only CURRENT product. And it is still current until June 30th. Nuff said.
I'm thrilled to know about the color changes! I'll be placing an order for all the re-inkers I'll be needing for the retired colors (which I intend to keep right on using!).

Squeakyleaky, you created a lot of excitement for today, THANK YOU!!! It has been fun to learn about the color changes. I am a very good customer to my sister/ demo, and I for one, appreciate that I could have the fun with her today on this site about all the hoopla of colors. I am anxiously waiting to see the Artichoke color. I know demos need a forum to ask questions and encourage one another but sometimes there are hard feelings created when you yell because something has been put on this forum for everyone to see. SU! changing colors is exciting and fun and why not share it? That is just my two cents and much thanks for the fun loving sisters, Emily and Kim.
