Question Pricing on selling your cards?

Hello,

I am just in the beginning stages of selling some cards to help out the family finances.

so what would/do you charge?

Simple card....no embellishments???

Layered card....???

Very ornate card???

I just need some help to get some guidelines..

thank you so much

I read on the SU! forum where a Demo sells her cards at $2 each or 6 for $10. She only participates in craft shows/fairs and says that she does very well. Actually, she does not do any workshops/customer orders as this is her income.

for relatively simple basic cards i charge $2. if a card involves more extensive cutting, layering, embellishing, etc, i charge $3. when you buy from a card shop, you pay at least that. also, just test the waters. set the price you want and see how they sell. when i first started selling, i charged $1.50-$2 and believe it or not, people told me i wasn't charging enough. people looking for a bargain are going to buy elsewhere anyway. those who appreciate hand crafting and art will be the ones buying. and when i think of some of the outstanding artists on this site, i would pay even more. i've seen work that i consider art worthy of framing.
hope it goes well for you.

There was a thread about this not that long ago. If you search for it, you'll find a lot of answers. As for me....$2.50....simple or embellished. Sold over 300 last year.

I sell my cards for $2 regardless of embellishments, etc. I have a couple of repeat people who sometimes give me more because they always tell me I don't charge enough. I sold 19 graduation cards to a co-worker yesterday and she gave me a check for $53.

$2 - $3 each seems very reasonable.

Best of luck with your adventure!
