Default Question about using NON SU stuff in Workshops

If SU does not sell the particular accessory, is it against policy to use another company's product in a class or workshop. For instance the rhinestone (bling) that are so popular now. Also, is it against policy to use Cuttlebug embossing folders in a class or workshop? jguyeby

I thought of their policy kind of like a No Compete agreement. If they don't sell it to begin with, there would be no competition. It also seems like you cannot endorse the other product in your workshop to obtain sales [and since you would not benefit, that would be pretty odd to do anyway].

You need to get a copy of the demonstrator agreement out and read it. If you are unsure, send an email to demonstrator support [would not suggest only asking on the phone].

Yes, according to the Demo Agreement you are not allowed to use or promote non SU items during an SU event (workshop, stamp camp, Cruise, CONV, etc.)

There was a letter from SU on the website about this after Cruise because of the people on Cruise who were talking about starting their own company.

You can use generic items like jumbo paper clips, staples or notebooks to decorate, but you can't use items from competing companies. For example, SU does sell rhinestone brads. You can take the rhinestones out to use them on their own, but you can't use rhinestones from another company in your workshop.

I'm not a demo but I would think you wouldn't want to because it would be frustrating to your customers who couldn't buy what you are demoing.
For example, I have a friend who likes to buy everything she needs for one particular card on one order. Our demo has said, "you can get these at Michael's" etc, but my friend would rather just order it, benefit her friend and be done. My demo is careful to demo with SU unless it's a paperclip or something SU doesn't sell.

As a customer, I wouldn't care if a demo used other products, BUT, I think it would be frustrating for new stampers who want to buy all of their supplies at the stamp party or workshop. Which reminds me to be thankful for SCS, without which I would not have the wonder that is the ATG gun. Ahh.
