Default Setting eyelets with punches

Ok, girls...share your wisdom.

I bought the punches to set the eyelets. We did it at a stamp club last year sometime, but for the life of me I can't remember/figure out how to put the thing on with the punch. Please tell me how, I feel like such an idiot!

Thanks,
Alison

Okay, I'll explain the best I can--hopefully, it won't be clear as mud

Take your 1/8 punch, and punch a hole where you want the eyelet to go. Place your eyelet in the hole, take your 1/16 punch, put the little sticking up part inside the back part of your eyelet (so it goes into the eyelet) and sqeeze. Voila, your eyelet is set.

In my experience, though, this only works with SU! eyelets. I haven't been able to get it to work with other brands--they're too hard or something.

HTH, Jen

Alison- Excellent questions! and I don't see any idiots around here!!

I thought I heard of this too, but couldn't for the life of me figure it out, so I gave up. Shame on me- I should have known to come here and ask!!

I just did it and it's so awesome and easy!!! NOW I can set eyelets with my daughter napping in the next room!! How fantastic! Before I had to put my eyelet projects aside until she woke up. And, I never wanted to demo eyelets at a workshop because of all the banging in case the hostess had small kids sleeping......... Just think of how my sales will go up now!
Thank you, TY, TY!!
This is the ANSWER to my PRAYERS!!!!! WooHoo!!!!!!!!

I was told about this over the summer and have loved it ever since. It is so much quicker not to mention quieter.

I Love you guys and this site. I too have had to wince everytime I use eyelets for fear of waking my sleeping kiddos.

Oh my goodness - I can't wait to try this. I hardly ever use eyelets just because I hated to do the pounding with the hammer. I'm so excited!!

Thanks for asking this question and thanks for providing the answer!!

This is how I do my eyelets 95% of the time! (cause the punch can only reach so far. So if it doesn't reach, a lot of the times I can the idea of eyelets) But, remember SU eyelets are nice and soft. Please don't break your punches by using the harder eyelets! ;)

I have to say that, so far, in my stamp club, the 1/8th & 1/16th punches are my BEST sellers because of how easy it is to set the eyelets this way. Probably 7 of my 10 members have bought both punches (and our soft eyelets of course!!) and the other 3 are still wanting to get them. Whoever figured this out years ago was the smartest stamper EVER!!!!

Default Eyelets

I set my eyelets this way when I'm trying to be quiet or when I can't find the other tools, but even though they look much nicer from behind when set this way, I don't like that they are not as flat. It sometimes gives me problems when mounting layers. Anyone else feel this way?

Sharon- I've just started setting the eyelets this way tonight, so I don't have much experience, but from first try it does seem as though it won't hold the layers like the traditional method would.

I can say, however, that I will be ordering many more eyelets now that I know this trick!! THANK GOD I have both punches already
