I *KNEW* I should have bought Backyard BBQ last summer when it was in the mini, but did I? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I have never really stopped wanting it, and decided to check Ebay today and some of the sets are going for as much as $50!!! GRRRR!!! I love the set, but I'm soo not shelling out $50 for it!
Are there any retired sets that you regret not getting??
MONKEY BUSINESS
they sell it for $90 on ebay.. insane
I saw that too! I almost bought this one as well, but truth be known I'd have probably sold it if I had kept it new and unmounted and found out what it was going for!
Not the BBQ set though - that would have been well loved before the time to sell ever came around! Wonder what the odds are of finding it at a rummage sale for cheap this summer... hmmmm....

Sarah, you could always ask your demo if she has it and if she'd be willing to part with it or if she knows someone that has it! :p

I tried that! Believe it or not, it was the last day to order the dang set and I said something to the effect that maybe if I didn't buy it I could buy it used off of her or one of her other customers who got sick of it... She told me if I wanted it I'd better get it because she didn't know anyone who had bought it!
And yet I STILL didn't buy it!! Dumb, dumb, dumb!
hi sarah,
i dont know i have two boys (2.5 and 3 months) and i think the monkey would be so cute for a very long time for cards and scrapbooks.
i see you have a little boy on the way too? congratulations... you are almost there. the last months are difficult..
You're right, Monkey Business would have been awesome for cute birthday cards or anything. You could have even done a jungle themed birthday party and made the invites with that set! And it would have been so easy since the images didn't need to be colored in!
I just traded for "Fishy Friends" for the same reason. I have always liked this set, but never got it because I didn't think it was practical for me... But now I figure I can hang on to it for awhile and use it for something for the little guy when he's a little older!
Thanks for the congrats too! I have to say I have been blessed in that I haven't had any significant problems or discomforts with this pregnancy. The worst has been heartburn and now some swelling in my ankles and calves, but that's about it. No complaints otherwise!
For me I really missed out one Courage and Honor and Liberty for All. With all the people deploying they are hard to find. Now my hubby is deploying and I wish I could have gotten those at the time so I could have them for this time!!
Since Backyard BBQ was in last year's summer mini, is there a chance that it could be one of the "limited" mini sets that makes it into the new IBC? Just curious...
Are any of the sets from the mini ever put into the new catty's anymore? Wasn't there some big announcement a year or two ago that they wouldn't be doing that anymore? Or was that the hostess sets? Now that I think about it, it might have been the hostess sets... let's hope so!
I really think both Monkey Business and Backyard Bar-B-Que will be in the new catalog. It always seems like the popular ones end up in there. I really would like to get both of them too, since I battled with myself to but them and never did. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
I have two. Monkey Business and Parisian Plaza. Fingers crossed Monkey Business is in the new catalog, but I really missed out on Parisian Plaza since it retired last year.

Fairy Nice for me!
In regards to the question above regarding the mini sets making it into the big catalog. SU advised that a 'very limited' amount of sets would make it. There won't be as many sets making it in years past, but there will be some. So hopefully, some of the sets above will make it.
SU also announed that none of the prior years hostess sets would ever make it into the next years catalogs (including the hostess set in the mini catalogs). Which means....more new stamps!
Oh lets see.......Monkey Business, Fairy Nice, Mixed Bouquet, Tall Tales, the cardinal set from the Holiday mini, and Touch of Nature. The first three I intended on ordering but lost track of time and was too late to order (remembered the day after the mini was over). *sigh*.........

On the Spot and Sweet Spot and Tall Tales Alpha.... I want these soooo bad. Mixed Bouquet is another one that I wish I had. I am holding out hope that they will turn up in the next catalog ;)

Oh...I forgot about Sweet Spot (got the background but not the matching stamp set...what WAS I thinking?). I can't believe the $$$ they're getting on E-bay for this set.
Keeping my fingers crossed that both make it in the new IB&C!
Do you think maybe since Mixed Bouquet is in the Aussie catalog, that it may be in the US one, too? I'm just hoping...I LOVE my set, & hope that others
get a chance to own it, too. I am SO buying the Monkey Business set, if it makes it into the new catalogue! Silly little monkeys...!
This is one set that I actually debated forever and DID buy... and am soooo glad I did!! I don't use a lot of backgrounds, but I love this one. It's so versatile! Maybe you can find someone who will part with it on the B/S/T board??
I'm starting to wonder about that dots and daisy background in the Spring mini... Will I regret not getting that? It's awfully cute!

yes, there is a chance it could happen....that's what I was thinking actually when I read the post...keep the hope alive! Anything from the last Summer Mini until this Spring Mini is a possibility. It might be back, you NEVER know!
If you really, really just need a monkey and either can not wait to see if he is in the next catalog, or just want "a monkey".....there is one sold at Archivers Scrapbook store. He is designed similarly in shape and size to the one in Monkey Business, has one arm up to swing from a branch.
I picked up script recently on ebay for 22.60. This included shipping so I didn't think that was too bad. I figure it would be about that if it wasn't retired and you purchase it from SU.
I had just started dating my now husband when I first saw Godspeed, I didn't know how it worked out so I didn't want the constant reminder of a soldier and what would I need it for if it didn't work out?! Well, he's now my husband and I refuse to pay the ebay price... I pray that it is in the new catty... I think they would be nuts not to bring that one back with the number of people who have military spouses/children/friends around these days.

I'm with everyone on Mixed Bouquet, couldn't justify the price at the time for just a 'mini' set, but I so wish I had gotten it! Another one is Filigree bg, I always knew I liked it, and I still don't know why I passed it up when I saw it on the retired list!
I also would probably buy Touch of Nature from the winter mini if it made the catalog.
too all of you who are regretting not buying mixed bouqet. one of the new level 3 hostess sets is similar. not the same just similar style. just thougth I'd let you know.
You can find them on trade forum if you are really diligent. I just got monkey business for a friend and I traded for a set that was close to the orginal value which was $22.95. I think if you wait long enough you'll find what you are looking for.
Sage advise and mixed bouquet were my missed opportunities. I really love the John Lennon saying and I didn't think I could justify spending $20 for the one saying but now I am so kicking myself! Then Mixed Bouquet was not even a set I liked until I made my clipboards for xmas presents. My friend thought she had Roses in Winter and was going to lend it to me but instead it was MB. I fell in love with it then had to give it back.
Now the dilema is whether or not to spring for the froggies and the watering can in this spring mini or live to regret it later.... ahhhhh!
