Can someone please explain what SU's clear stamps are? Do I understand correctly that they are NOT clear? I think they are used with a clear mount, so how do they differ from SU regular stamps that are not yet mounted. I am having a problem understanding these stamps and I knew you SU people would be able to help me out. TIA
They are real red rubber, and come with a cling backing to stick to the acrylic blocks. I made a little video of how they are set up if you want to see it:

They are NOT clear and hard to get exact...they are unmounted with a sticker' that if you place perfectly will be close to where you want it if it is an stamp overlay project...I have yet to get them to do perfectly like the clear stamps. I buy them because they are less expensive.
Many stampers have a hard time getting the stamp to stay on the acrylic block when stamping. SOme do not even use the stickers.
I personally got so frustrated that I sold almost all of my SU and do not buy their stamps anymore for this reason and some other bad customer service issues I had with them.
I've never had a problem with their sticking, but I know others have. I live in Southern California where the weather is always dry, so that may help.

I had the same question. I figured out that they call them Clear-Mount because they mount on clear acrylic blocks just like the clear photopolymer stamps. The rest of the stamp industry calls them Cling Stamps; red rubber with foam cushion and the foam cushion has a coating that should stick to the clear blocks.
I live in the panhandle of FL and my sticker-backed clear mount SU stamps are a joke. I only attempted to mount two of my new sets with the stickers before I gave up, pulled the stickers off and just use them with the clingy foam cushion. The cling cushion works like a dream. Too bad the image sticker doesn't...
I'm still contemplating putting the stickers on the backs then giving each one a thin coat of ATIOO. On the fence on that one, tho.
I'll continue to buy and use SU's CM stamps, since they're cheaper and the foam at least will cling to my acrylic blocks. I figure they'll fix it eventually. Maybe.

So far I have 10 sets of the SU clear mount stamps and I love them. I have the stickers on them and have not had any problem with them sticking to the blocks. I do not use the SU blocks though. I use the blocks I already had from M's.
I didn't think i would like them, but I really do. I live in a very humid part of MO on the MIssissippi River and I have no problem with them sticking. I also love the price difference.
My preference is wood, but I have used the clear mounts and like them more than the acryllic stamps in the stores. If you are having trouble with them sticking, try wetting the backs before you push them to the clear blocks. Not soaking wet, just enough to dampen it. It seems to help on the ones I have trouble with. The reason I prefer the wood is because you don't have to put it on and off the block. It's permanent so I can just pick it up and go.
I do not use the SU blocks though. I use the blocks I already had from M's.
I thought my problem was just the opposite. I use a variety of acrylic blocks: generic ones from Michael's, gridded ones from Stampabilities, etc. I broke down and bought the smallest block from SU (size A).
SU's block worked brand new out of the package with my new Sweet Summer set also brand new out of the case, but as I stamped and cleaned the stamps while they were attached to the block, the image sticker lost its cling ability. I assume it's the oils in the stazon cleaner. But every other cling set I own works fine. And I refuse to stop and clean my blocks every single time I swap stamps. That just makes stamping seem like a continuous task of cleaning instead of creating.
So, until SU can figure out how to coat the image sticker with the same stuff they put on the back of the foam, I'm just making do in my own way. Darn good thing I'm not a demo! The company would be rather upset with me cussing their image stickers in the middle of a class...

I use the clear mount without the stickers because I read so many were having trouble with them.
Mine stick fine w/out the stickers.
I still love wood mount, but buy clear mount because of the price.

I rarely have a problem w/ mine either. But I've been an UNmounted stamper since I started stamping in 96 and SU has the best mix...lower cost, red rubber, trimmed and UM.

I adore the SU cling stamps - so much that I unmounted all my SU wood sets and put them on ez-mount. Saved a ton of room. I don't put the stickers on either and since I can see where I'm stamping make much less mistakes. Plus they save you a ton of $$
