Is it just me or do the labels for the wood blocks on newer stamp sets seem harder to get off the white backing without tearing? Especially the set discription label.
Yes! I think the problem is the perforated barcode label that is just below the set description label. I did figure out that if I tear off the barcode label, backing and all, the description label comes off much easier.
I had that problem too. I tore 3 picture labels trying to get them off the paper. They weren't even from the same set, so I figured something was different with them.

and they are no longer dating the labels. I like to know what year the stamp set was from so I will have to use a sharpie to date the plastic containers.

My last order was tricky like this, and it was before the UPC label too. I tore at least 2 of the clear image labels trying to remove them. I wonder if SU went to a thinner sticker material?
I have had the same problem too. I do not like that the date is not on the stamps anymore. Last night I spent the evening, writing the name of the stamp set on the end of each stamp in pencil....Lots more to go to finish them all up.
I thought it was me too, glad to know it isn't - I guess they changed to a cheaper label to avoid raising prices even more - EVERYTHING is going up so much. Wonder if they can change back and give us the quality we are used to?

Same here! Thought it might be me! But I just put together 11 sets and a lot of them tore when I got to the set title and barcode. Even though its perforated, it sure doesn't tear off nice and clean at all! Thankfully I didn't rip any images!

I thought it was just me too. I have ripped every name label while trying to take it off the backing and onto the plastic box. Seems like 1/2 the time I rip one of the stamped images also. It's quite the pain in the rear if you ask me. Maybe we should email and find out what's different about them?
I've been creasing my barcode portion up and down then ripping that off first. or if they are in my hand anyway I've been using my trimming scissors to trim that new bar code section first, then the rest works well.
Same problem here. But have also found that the sale a bration sets are ripping off the foam backing also. Asked about it but was told that SU probably wouldn't do anything about it.
I ripped all my new labels till I started cutting them with my scissors. I can't cut straight worth anything, so I'm going to have to start using my paper trimmer. What a pain!
I just leave the label in one piece and put the whole thing on. I don't mind having the set number on the box, and it fits just fine. I have had some of the image labels tear though, like the perforations or whatever aren't complete or something. I just slow down though, and I can see if it starts to tear and I stop before any real damage is done.
Now that you mention it, I've had this problem, too.
I know I really ripped a label badly for one of my recent background stamp purchases. Not good because I've started putting those directly on the edge of the stamp instead of the case.
I thought it was just me and I was really challenged for some reason!! lol.....
I did find though that if you start at the bottom corner below where the name part of the label is that you can help break the perferation apart better and do it very slowly. But mine have also ripped too......
So I was wondering.. What is the barcode for anyway? It's not like we need it
But ditto on the labels!
Well, I'm kind of a computer geek, and I've been making a database of all of my SU sets, and making my own barcode labels to help with inventory and organizing. The SU barcode uses "Code39", just like I've been making from my database for my own stamp cases. It's also what we use at work in the books for our library. It's common for tracking and inventory work. It's not the same as UPC, which is a more complex coding for product labeling.
If you don't have a barcode reader, you probably don't need to save the barcode part of the label. If you think you might get a barcode reader some day, slap it on the case somewhere.
