Hi ladies! I am new here, what a wonderful website, great inspiration!
Can anyone tell me ... I am thinking of buying a set of SU markers. I have Marvey LePlume markers now and I'm not that thrilled with them. Are the SU markers worth the price? Should I take the plunge and buy them? Any thoughts or comments would be welcomed. Thanks.
OH they are so worth the money!!! You will love them. Also with Sell-a-bration starting Jan. 1 not only will you get the markers, but also free stamps!! Yahoo!!
I have these markers too, thanks to a great friend, who sent them to me from the States as a gift. I love them, I use them soooo much for everything. I would pay for them if I didn't get them given to me.

Get the entire set, if possible. They come in a fabulous carrying case and they are FANTASTIC. I am so glad I took the plunge and got them all at once. Buy them after Jan 1 and you also get 2 SAB sets. hmmm...;)
I also own all of the La Plume markers. Since I have gotten the SU markers a year ago, well, the La Plumes have not been used once........
Get the aquapainter also (If you do not already have it). You can use your marker to scribble a little bit of color on the plastic case that holds your stamp and you can also watercolor with that ink as well (If you don't have the stamp pad.....)
Okay ladies - tell me what SAB sets are. Also I didn't quite understand the description of the aquapainter. I guess I could ask my SU! demonstrator but she is new too and just learning.
The aquapainter is a pen that has a chamber that you can fill with a liquid (for example, water for water coloring, future floor wax for adding pearlex to your image, bleach to remove color from your image, etc....... ) They are in the catalog. I was just commenting that if you do not have all of the stamp pad colors, but you get the markers, that you may also want to consider getting the aquapainter as well- then you can watercolor in any color you have a marker of...........
I so love the markers!! I hardly use my pencils anymore!! I would be hard pressed to say what I use more my ink pads or my markers!! - And with Sellabration- you will get more bang for your buck with the free stamps!!! Go for it!!!!!!

I love my markers!! I dont know how I ever stamped with out them! I joined a marker club to make the purchase a little easier! Best decision I have made!
I have the markers, I have the spots, I have the watercolor pencils (and now the crayons). I have a FEW pads. I LOVE MY MARKERS. I use them more than I use anything else. Take the plunge, get the whole 48. The case is worth it.
Thanks for all the replies, ladies! I will definitely be purchasing the markers, although I dont think that I can do the whole set at one time. I will start with Bold Brights and then work my way through the entire set eventually. Its nice to hear that everyone loves these markers!
Deb,
ask your demo if she is willing to do a marker club. You would need 3 other people to buy markers also. Each month (that's how ours went) you would each get one family of colors and one person would get the case. It splits up the cost, and you still get the case. It probably wouldn't help you get a SAB set though.
The thing I really enjoy is that I am not replacing them after a few months. I really pondered on whether it was worth it. I was scared I would feel like I wasted money but I found it is sooooo worth the money.
I guess the adage is true..you get what you pay for.
SAB stands for Sell A Bration. It is a catalog of six sets of stamps that you can get free - one with each $50 purchase made in January or February. Your demo should have a catalog for you to look at if you aren't on her mailing list.
Before I'd learned about SU...I bought the Le Plume markers in my local craft store. They did not last very long and some seemed to be dried up from the start. Plus once in awhile their lid would not want to stay on right...kind of popped up for some reason. That would cause them to dry out and most of mine aren't any good. About 4 years ago, I purchased the SU markers and rarely use them....but they are as fresh and juicy as the day I got them.Well worth the money you invest in them.

I've too been debating about purchasing SU markers. My question is do you get quality images when you colour directly on the rubber? The non-SU markers I own right now only stamp light images even after I huff to remoisten my ink. I have the Just Beakause set and I can never colour fast enough to get multiple colours on the Toucans and still get a dark image after stamping. Does this problem happen with the SU markers as well?
I have a million markers and am definitely getting the entire SU set during SAB after using them at my demo's house. They are made so that thet can be used directly on the stamp, the results are perfect! I am sold! I will probably give away my other markers.

If you color your stamp and then huff on them well you get a vibrant stamped image. I really like to do this and think it sometimes give a crisper image than using ink pads. I've not tried other kinds of markers, but the SU markers are superb and are worth the investment

I've used non-SU markers as well and I have found SU markers are FAR SUPERIOR to the non-SU. Huffing on SU markers gives VERY good color and coverage. You will NOT be disappointed. Take the plunge!

Definitely the way to go- my ladies wanted to do the same thing- so they are now all excited about the extras they will be getting(they are adding a bit to their orders to bring it up for Sellabration)- give your demo a call!!!!

What about other brands? (Not Marvy--those really do dry up fast) I saw some good bargains for the Brushables by Zig (EK Success) on Ebay and was wondering if those were good. The twin tip ones wouldn't work for me since my writing is really bad to begin with ... the only style I can write in is the fine tip or use jelly pens. (I pretty much only write in black anyway in my scrapbooks.)
I want the paint tips though for stamping, watercoloring, etc....THANKS for the tip about Furture Floor Wax! Never heard of that before. (I really need to find a demostrator who is active for stamp camps.)

threw all my Marvys away after getting the SU! ones!
I was part of my demos marker club so we got them in increments (MUCH easier on the pocketbook)...

The SU Markers are awesome. The smaller tip is good for coloring in very small and/or thin areas.

Take the plunge!
If I had to pick one of the color groups I would definately pick the bold brights too! I have 3 sets and I only use a few of the colors out of the 2 but my bold brights get constant useage. Could I reccomend the Heartfelt Thanks stamp set to go with them??? I bought this set and can't believe how versatile it is. I have made at least 100 cards from this set already. I even used it to make my Christmas cards and stamped Heartfelt Holiday Greetings on it instead of Thanks. It was a HUGE hit with family and friends!
