Vellum - paper vs cardstock
In what situations is the paper vellum better than the cardstock? it appears that the cardstock can be used in pretty much any instance the paper would, but not vice versa. I'm just trying to decide if I really need to have both.
TIA,
Sandi

Hi Everyone,
I prefer the CS espically when dry embossing. I was trying to get a sample done for a stamp camp and until I used my cs vellum I was going nuts. The project had curves and with regular vellum it kepts tearing at
the curves no matter how lightly I pressed. I think it holds shape better
too. when I measure a peice press flat it seems to stay and not "stretch"
or buckle.
I love the idea of doing it with the 2,4,6,8, box, I may just have to sign off
and go try it. Thanks for the GREAT IDEA!!

I'm a fan of the cardstock. I just find it a little easier to work with than the paper. It's less likely to rip (when I don't want it to tear), less likely to curl, less likely bend. I guess I'm a tad clumsy and just need a heavier bond than the paper.
I ordered the paper at first because I didn't know what the difference was & just ordered the cheaper stuff. I've hardly used it because it's sooooo flimsy. I ordered the CS on the next order & whew, what a difference! It's great for making sour cream twists, stamping on one side & coloring on the other...gives a softer look, dry embossing (don't even need a light box), tearing with the tearing edge, making envies, etc. I should have ordered more!
I prefer the cardstock. The vellum paper is so thin to me - I've bought one package, and that's all! Embossing (dry as well as heat) looks fantastic on it!
One instance where I think the paper is better is when making invitations (such as wedding) where the words are printed on the vellum and layered over a piece of stamped cs. I think the paper is prettier for this - otherwise, I also stick to the vellum cs.
I love to print out journaling for my scrapbooks on vellum. A word to the wise, it didn't look as good in bold text as it did in regular text, so watch the use of bold when printing out on vellum. the vellum is so delicate that a heavy dark typing was overpowering. Happy Stampin, Ashley

seeing as how I'm not planning any wedding invitations in the near future, I think I'll stick with the cardstock instead of the paper. thanks for all the advice!
