I have the mini (1/8") casual and the small (1/4") casual alphabets.
I love the 1/8" size ~ It's perfect for adding sentiments on cards. I'm actually thinking of getting a second set of the 1/8" casual, so I have plenty of letters for longer sentiments. Here's an example from my gallery: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I don't use the 1/4" size as much. The spacing is wide between the letters, so the words look more spread out. I've used this size for shorter sentiments on cards or for titles on 6x6 scrapbook pages.
I have 2 sets of the 1/8" & 1/4" in the casual (only comes in lower case) and 1 set of the 1/8" & 1/4" in the formal (only comes in upper case). I use the 1/8" much more often than the 1/4" and I use the casual much more often than the formal. I have 1 set of the numbers for each size and style of font.
I do recommend getting 2 sets of whatever you use the most so you can do more things with it.
The 1/8" size works perfectly with the SU word window punch.
Good question! I've been wondering this, too. My LSS (local scrap/stamp store) had them in last year. The alphas sold out right away. I was thinking of asking her to get them in again.
I think these would be a good investment. They are only 8.98 for the 1/4" on scrapping great deals.... I didn't think that was bad at all
Nice to see you again too Cris.
Have a great day

Denise ~ I am most pleased with the mini. I talked to several people before I got them and that was the most recommended. The mini's are small enough for you to string words together and create phrases, which is what I was most interested in. The mini's also work well with our hodgepodge hardware.
The small (1/4") is a little big to do more than simple greetings like Happy Birthday, Congratulations, etc. I did buy the small, but I don't see me using it nearly as much. Most of those things, I already have stamps for, right?
One word of advice is to buy 2 sets of the same size. This gives you more of a chance to have what you are needing to do a multi word phrase. HTH!
i agree - mini is the best for the same reasons above, and cheap enough to buy two sets. i wanted it for unusual phrases that i wouldn't buy (or maybe even find) a regular stamp for, so the little guys are the way to go. i've only used my 1/4" size a couple times. (don't forget you can make "spacers" by snapping in one of the stamps upside down - this really helped me with the look of my phrases...) HTH!
