What stamp set did you just have to have...
but now can't do anything with? I bought On The Beach in my very first order and have always struggled with using it. Somehow cards just don't easily come together out of that set.
What set or stamp is that way for you?
Time Well Spent was one. I traded it because I didn't like stamping with it.
Carte postale was another set that did not inspire me. It's beautiful but I always get stamper's block when I take it out. I bought it because I thought it would be a great set to demo, but I should just stick to what I like instead of what I feel I should buy... I'm happy it's retiring.

I have struggled with WAY TOO MANY sets that I just had to have, but not in the last two years. That's when I started checking out galleries here before buying. If there are lots of cards in the gallery that I want to CASE, I buy. If there just isn't anything that's my style (even though I may still love a lot of what others do with it), I pass. This has saved me tons of money and made me much happier.
So many, many thanks to all who post cards in the gallery!

I have a lot I had to have and havent used yet such as the cute GinaK animal sets that I love but can't seem to make anything cute with and about half of my SU! stamps right now, oh and all the Rubber Romance girls I had to buy and now I have only used like 2 out of 10 of them...I could go on and on but it's the fun of buying for me a lot of the time, it's a sickness!
The one from the current catalog that I thought would be fun, but has been anything but, is A Beautiful Thing. I just can't figure out what to make with it.
There have been plenty more mistakes, but I've traded most of them away. I have learned that my "red flag" times are the very beginning of a new catalog and the very end of a mini catalog. Both are times that I have tended to go crazy in the past, buying that new thing that I absolutely must have or that thing that's about to be gone. I'm getting much better about my purchases now. I was pleasantly surprised that I could only think of one major boo-boo from the current catalog.

What a great idea! I am going to start doing that.
My Alphabits & Fun with Shapes are both still uncut and unmounted (I think I cut one shape out, but never used it)! I would sell or trade, but from what I can tell they have almost no value! Also have lots of Sell-A-Bration sets new & unused!
Shes all that from the mini catologue! Looked so cute HAD TO HAVE IT! Now not a clue what to do with it!! I cannot get the image perfect which is annoying me!!
I love Cool Cat, but it is so hard to get a good solid image off of it. very frustrating for me.
Oh, and I just HAD to have Cute as a Bug. That was a fiasco! lol I traded that one!
I have alot that I have had a year or more that have not seen ink. I have however gotten smatter, I wait to buy. If after a few weeks if I still love it I put it on my list to buy. When I go to make my order and look over the list and I finally decide. Like with the retired list, I know that there are alot of sets I would like to have but I don't feel inspired by them and after looking over the catty almost daily for six months I learned that I don't really want them anyways.
Baroque Motifs - The only thing I've done with this is cased the exact card (in different colors) we made at my stamp club. Anything I make beyond it looks hideous (tried it for a Christmas card ... seriously, it's probably the ugliest thing I've ever made).
Business Boosters (retired) - I had grand ideas ... this one may be on its way out.
Word Search - I guess I'm just not a background stamp person. Anyone else have this problem? I honestly don't think I'll ever order another background stamp, and I can't say I'd miss this guy if he were out of my collection.
By Land - Weird, because I use my By Air quite often. I'm years behind on scrapbooking, so with two boys I'm sure it'll get inked up soon enough as I get caught up. (Not to mention, useful for cards and such.)
Tart & Tangy - Don't stone me! I'm dying to use this one, just haven't gotten around to it. I want to do the scented ink with it.
Alphabet/Number Sets - I have Best Friends Uppercase, Best Friends Numbers, and Doodle Alphabet. I rarely used them, and now that I have my Cricut I doubt I'll ever use them again. I may let the Best Friends ones go ... that Doodle one is just too cute (even if I never use it).
Me too!! I love what others have done with the set but I've never used mine. The only time it's seen ink was for a Image PIF to an online friend. It sat here unmounted for over a year.

One of a Kind - love the images but they seem more of 'helper' images. I can't seem to make any of them a focal point for a card. I have CASEd several cards from the gallery, but it's frustrating when I thought I would just LOVE this set.
Sometimes I just take it off the shelf, look at it, and say 'Oooh...pretty' then put it back. This seems to happen with DP too.

All in the Family for me. I bought it in November and haven't touched it since until this month. Now I finally used a few images on a card but I still only mounted 6 stamps from that whole huge set. I think I need to go cruise the gallery and try to CASe some cards -- at least that will get me to mount the set. LOL! I still think it's adorable, BTW.
I used the second card for a class Wednesday and everyone love it, epsecially when I told them not to check off the date until they knew what occasion they were going to use the card for. They loved the fact that they could really personalize the card that way without doing any extra stamping.
Both of my problem sets are retired. Shapes and Shadows and Little Layers. I loved both those sets but I've only used them a couple times in scrapbooks. Shapes and Shadows especially bugs me because I can never get the stamps to line up right when I'm two step stamping. I still love Little Layers and I can usually put it to good use on a scrapbook page but as for using it on a card...I don't know.
Perhaps we should start a challenge here and make ourselves use these sets.

I find it amazing that so many have problems with Loads of Love. I love that set, you can put absolutely anything you want in the bed of the truck. My Sis even put a giraffe in the bed of the truck once. lol I put bird poop on it once (that card is in my gallery). I haven't put the one I'm about to describe in my gallery though: I did one where I strapped the reindeer from Sleigh Full of toys to the hood of the truck with x's over his eyes, put a penguin behind the wheel of the truck and wrote, "Santa's gonna be a little late this year" on the card. It's sick I know, but it still made me giggle. I'm just awful! I didn't post it because I don't want to offend anyone.
