Tracy, how many did we have last year? I am pretty sure that I was out of there by 2:00 (and I had to hang around and wait for my ride) - and I took lots of photos, break for lunch, bought some stamp sets at the sale, chatted, etc.
Last year we had 25 - and I had you pre-make 1 for me since I don't get a chance to stamp I'm thinking a few more won't affect the timing too much. And we actually have the room until 4pm - I just listed 3pm as a cut-off to allow for extra clean up time.
I completely forgot about the garage sale! Would anyone be interested in that again this year? We had a table set up where you could bring your "slightly loved" stamping/scrapping stuff in hopes that it could find a new home. The B/S/T guidelines were just like here on SCS - anything current could only be traded - but retired stuff was available for sale.

That would be about 10 - 12 minutes per card. Hmm. Maybe we should pre-make some. Just my opinion.
I would love to do a garage sale. I have about 10 sets that I was thinking of putting in the b/s/t forum, but I will bring them up there first if that is an option! COOL idea!!!
I don't think we need to premake any, but if that's the majority decision that is fine. My opinion is based on both last year's event and the SCS Northwoods event I went to in October last year - more than enough time to make all the cards, have lunch, and socialize. I think people would be surprised how fast it is to make a card that has already been designed, cut & pacakged, and many times has written directions. Stamp & assemble - then eat cookies.
I agree Jennifer....you'd be surprised how fast it goes! That's something to keep in mind as you design your project. Fast, simple wow's work great for the shoebox portion. Save the more time-consuming techniques, etc. for the optional swaps.

I'd like to see a garage sale, but I would need some help on how it works? Do we price the items--put our name on it, etc. and then see what happens?
Second--I have not been an "event" like this in the past, so I have no idea if making 30 cards in about 5 1/2 hours will work or not--but I would think so. As others have said, it is already cut out--we just need to stamp, glue and go!
And lastly--I need to fess up now as I have used a retired SU set in my shoebox card. OOPS!!! I thought and thought all weekend and the two cold days we were off of school this week about the card to make for the shoebox part and really fretted about it. I tried a couple of sets, made some samples and then picked Music Speaks--made a card, cut out all of the parts for all 30 cards and was quite happy (or was it relieved???????) Well, last night. I was putting together my order for stamp club tonight and getting some additional items I needed for the other swaps, I realized the darn set is not in the book.................... so, I am sorry, unless there is a problem with it, my card is with a retired set. Again, sorry I messed up!
Hi Barb! Thanks for your input and don't fret about the 'retired' stamp Like I said, I don't put restrictions on what gets used.
And, yes, you have the garage sale idea correct. Mark prices and your name on the items. If someone is interested, they'll come find you!

Just waiting to hear from 2 more and then I'll have final counts for everyone!

Hi Julie -
I'm still waiting to hear from 2 people who've said their registrations are in the mail. I've asked them to email me with what they signed up for....but haven't heard yet.
Final count for shoebox portion is 31 (including yourself). I hope to have the other group counts tomorrow.
Sorry to keep y'all waiting - I'm anxious to get started too!
-Tracy

You all should have received an email from me today with the counts. I got my Spring Mini preorder today and can't wait to get started this weekend on my swaps! That new Bunny Hugs is going to make the best 3x3 size

You should have all received an email from me asking to add another to the group. I've heard back from most of you with a resounding "yes, the more the merrier". So I will add her in. I hope to hear back from her today with more details about which optional swaps she may be participating in. I will update here and send out an email as well.
Thanks!

Hello again! I've updated the original post with the new addition. You'll also receive an email with the revised counts.

I have a question on the garage sale items--is there a limit or recommended amount of what we can bring?
No, I don't have a trunk full of items, ;) , but I do have 17 retired SU sets to sell, 2 current sets to trade and a single stamp of the "red hat" type to sell. Is that too much to bring along? I have priced the for sale items along the lines of some I have found in the BST listings along with sold prices on Ebay.

No limit! I say bring it - you may just get lucky and not have to take them back home again

Less than 2 weeks to go now! Who's getting excited

Tracy, I'm not sure if there were vendor restrictions on our swaps and shoebox project...I have a really cool clear stamp by Autumn Leaves (Rhonna Farrer) that I want to use, but I won't use it if anyone is going to be upset about a non-Stampin' Up! stamp...
Just let me know--thank you.

I don't put vendor restrictions on this. I do this for the fun of stamping! If anyone asks, I say that most attendees are SU demos or customers - so you'll find that just about everything is SU.
But again, I do not specify that it needs to be! Personally, I like to see what else is out there. And I consider it a challenge to then reproduce it using the stuff I have
So, I would say go for it.

Me too--I can't wait..............who says teachers have patience!!!! This will be my first "swappping" event and like Laurie, I hope it also is a good "selling:" event too--I am bring 17 retired SU sets to sell and 2 current sets to trade and I keep telling myself that I will NOT buy anything. :p :p :p Yeah right, and the temp in Wisconsin tomorrow will be 60 degrees!!!!!!!
I have my shoebox cards done, as well as my swap and the anything but a card (any Longaberger fans attending--you'll like mine then!) Just finishing up on the 3x3 tonight.
I was thinking the same thing. No better reason to hunker down and stamp! Thank goodness we're getting this now and not next Saturday!!

I used the clear flower stamp on the 6x6 pages, and I made an extra one for you!
You won't believe where I found that stamp--in the "Hot Spot" at Archiver's for only $1.99. I'm bringing it with me to show you--there was also another Autumn Leaves Rhonna Farrer stamp--a cute little birdie that is just adorable.
Of course, the "hot spot" at A's is just the dollar spot at Target--gotta get that stuff right away before it sells out. I'll stop by there again to see if there are any left--if so, I'll pick one up for ya.

Cool! Joann's has had a few Rhonna Farrer single stamps in their dollar spot recently, but it is the same...get them before they are gone. I got one that says family, one with 3 flowers and another that I can't describe. I heard that there was a cute bird out there too but haven't seen that one. I just got on the big sets at hobby lobby when they were half off last week too.
I'm so excited for Saturday!!!

You should have all gotten an email regarding your box lunch from Jimmy Johns. If not, email me ([email protected]) right away so I can forward the information to you. I need to have all the lunch orders returned to me by Thursday afternoon.
Also, a few of you have asked if there's anything else you can bring. You're more than welcome to bring other sides (pasta/potato salad, veggies, fruit) or desserts. But, please don't feel obligated.
If you are bringing something, please post here or send me an email. Thanks!
4 more days! Yay! (Guess I'd better get stampin' )

Well...I'm bringing "chocolate cake in a bowl"...with enough plates and spoons for everyone. (It's so moist...you don't need a fork!) This is regular chocolate box cake, with chocolate pudding, and whipped cream. Lots of calories and sugar...so be warned!
I'm done with everything except my card fronts...and I'm changing my mind every time I sit down to stamp them. I'll probably stamp them while I'm baking the cake on Friday night...

Only a few more days to go!! Yay
At this point, it sounds like the weather is supposed to be ok in my area. So lets keep our fingers crossed.
weird....it wont let me type an apostrophe! It brings up a search box. Odd.

Tina asked me to post that she'll bring a pasta salad. I will have trail mix and chocolate (of course!) on the tables. And some mini donuts available when you first arrive.

I have a sizzix system with some accessories I want to include in the garage sale. However, I don't want to lug it along if no one is interested - it is HEAVY! Retails for over $400 will let it go for $275 to the first person to email me at [email protected]. I have:
Sizzix personal die cutting maching with pad
Converter (so you can use sizzlets)
Sizzlets classic alphabets in case
Sizzix originals Cracked egg die
Sizzix originals Heart #1 die
Sizzix originals Tags die
Sizzix originals table top holder (holds 13 original dies)
Sizzix Tote - red roller bag that holds everything
Let me know if you have any questions. Sorry to post here, but I really don't want to bring it if no one is interested.
I have a quick question for everyone...is anyone bringing any current (trade only) items? I have a huge list of current sets for trade but I don't want to bring them if no one is intersted. The thing is at this time I really only want to trade for SU cardstock or designer paper. I am not using as many SU stamps nowadays and don't really want to trade for more stamps. Here is a link to my Buy/Sell/Trade post with the list of what I have. If anyone is interested in trading for any of them please let me know and I will bring them along. Forums at Splitcoaststampers
Hope everyone is having a great night. I finished cutting everything today so I am ready for Saturday...wooohooo!!!!
