I saw this thread pop up and I scanned over it to see what it was saying about Central Ca then I realized I was the original poster. I was thinking what the heck! I started this so long ago! Glad to see people responding to it. hehe Hey VDub! Glad you found us. This is a great site! Been here a little over a year and I learn something new everyday!
Wow Tami!!! I never even looked at your original post to see that it was almost a year old!!! Maybe now that it's back at the front you'll get some more responses!
I'm from Sacramento too. Antelope area to be a exact. I moved to Washington 5 years ago. I don't miss the heat but I do miss the redwoods, wine country, and good Mexican food. You CAN NOT find good Mexican food here. No one even makes their own tortillas which to me is a sin.
Mini hijack...anyone know of a good Mexican retaurant in the Seattle-Tacoma area?
Oh, Oh, Oh, I had lunch in April in SLO!!! Back to my old stomping grounds in Lompoc every spring! My mom is burried in Los Olivos--God's country for sure, at least compared to my area of New England. Missing Calif, Nola
Yes, Paso Robles is God's country ... rolling hills and oak trees. Very calm and relaxing life here in Paso Robles. We also some great winery's here! Come for a wine tour!!!

I actually live in the SF Bay Area, but my parents reside in Atascadero. We often go to Paso Robles and SLO when I visit. And yes, there are outlets in Atascadero now - I think it's the exit before San Anselmo on Highway 101. My parents have lived there for about five years and the place is definitely growing - always something new each time that I visit.
Oh my Gosh.... You guys are making me so homesick. I grew up in a little town 50 miles out of Fresno called Oakhurst. Has anyone ever heard of Bass Lake? Talk about God's country. We lived only 1 mile from the lake and I spent my summers swimming and playing. I'm in Utah now but my heart is still Californian. I attended Fresno City College for 2 years before transfering to BYU. My BIL and his fam live in Rocklin near Sacramento. My Mom and Step Dad still live in Oakhurst and so do my brother and sister. I also have a little sister who lives in Stockton. Man, I sure miss them and I miss Cal. I haven't been home in 6 years. I'm going to cry now......
Hugs, Kim
Hi, I'm in Seattle now (so much cooler in the summer) but used to live in Modesto. My brother teaches at Stagg High in Stockton. Actually, he used to teach at Stagg. He is now Chair of the science dept at the new Cesar Chavez High School opening this year. Just wanted to give a shout outto Central Cali residents.

What a small world. I thought I was the only one from around here. Nice to see that there are other stampers in central CA. I'm about 35 miles south of Fresno and 120 from SLO. Close enough to the mountains, the coast and the wine country. Except for the heat I love it. And yes Oakhurst is not that far either. Isn't Bass Lake beautiful. We have quite a few lakes near hear.
Location: Most beautiful place I have ever seen .. Washington

Hi Tami. I'm in Modesto. Are you part of Karen Flores downline? It's nice to see a shout out from California, it's seems people are from the Midwest or back East. The heat here is NOTHIN'. Have you ever been to Chicago or Florida in the heat? I'll take this heat over humidity & heat ANY DAY.
I am from Sacramento, left about 3 yrs ago. My mom is in Manteca and my dad is in the Auburn area. Other family is srpinkled in and around there. I went home this summer and I would love to end up back there but it is so expensive. My DH and I are still debating it.
I was dying to get away from Sac but I have missed ever since I left.
I'm in Gold River, between Sacto and Folsom. Origanally from Scottsdale AZ. DH is looking at jobs which could possibly take us back to the Valley of the Sun...... I'm worried I'll really miss it here =(
What a fun thread....I was born in Sacramento, Foothill Farms, moved to Buck Meadows, it's outside of Yosemite, above Sornora, then moved to Oakhurst and went to Sierra High School in Alberry...went to Reedley college for two years and now live in Lake Isabella, which is above Bakersfield about 50 miles in the mountians.

I grew up in South Sacramento, and now live in Elk Grove. We are thinking of moving out of state. Average price of a house is $525,000 with out a yard. :( We have owned 4 houses here. Hard times hit and our buisness failed. We now rent and will never be homeowners again with that price tag. :(
