I'm actually hoping to see lots of retired sets used. I'm a demo and sometimes get tired of having to stay so current. Would love some time to play with retired sets that would be "new" to me, since I've not been at this very long. That's just my thoughts, but the gals putting it together might have some different advice.........................
Although the first post says that it strongly suggests us to use current, my card is using a retired set. It would be easy to make my card with a current set (say, Lovely as a tree), but I am hooked on what I made and like it.

Karan,
Please don't feel like your stampin is not up to par.....Quick and Easy wow cards are great for this type of function since you are roaming back and forth from table to table, trying to get them all done thru the day, so please don't worry about it, i'm SURE your design will be great, there is so much inspiration on this site, and you are already one step ahead of the average bear.....just think of all the stampers out there who *gasp* Don't KNOW about SCS yet?!?!?!
they have NO idea what they are missing!

So using a retired st would be okay, especially if it is something that could be changed to incorporate a current set. Is that right? Cause I have to tell you, all but a few of my sets are retired. I tend to buy the ones that are limited because I know I can't get them later.

I too buy the sets from the mini catalogs since they will only be around for a short time. I go to a monthly club and I tell you I barely do purchase the sets from the original catalog because I am so concerned on buying the ones that won't be around very long. :0( I like the mini's but really need to start focusing on the original catalog and get the sets I want before they retire them.
just wanted to btt, anyone else needing a room, please make your res asap!
have a Stampy weekend!

Yea! Quit fooling around and design somethin'! Oh.... you're THAT person who designs the perfect card the night before!!!! It takes me weeks to 'perfect' my ideas....

I've ruled out lots of cards that would take too long or cost me too much money. I've yet to come up with The Perfect card. Only slightly panic-y at this point.
I wonder is there such thing as a perfect card?
Trying to keep a card under 10 minutes or less can be a tricky thing - BUT it can be done. Remember to check out the Challenges here on SCS - pick out a layout from the sketch challenges, then wander over the the Color Challenges, pick out your colors.....NOW all you need is your stamp sets....
So what is the consensus?? Can we use retired or mini/sell-a-bration sets or not? I don't mind it, but I want to do what most people would like.
Whoolie (Julie)
There were no stipulations placed on stamps you use for this swap; there are many people attending who are NOT demos for SU and a few who are demos for other companies even. This is not a Stampin' Up! event... but a stamping event! I say; do what makes you happy! What is most important is that the cards you design are created with quality products... paper cut straight, Quality Card stock designed for stamping... etc.
That being said; I would imagine that most business focused demos will use current products; but that WILL be a minority amoung this group.
Some of you SU! demos will go home with cards you will not want to use in your business ventures.... but surely you can find other uses for those cards. I donate 'leftovers' or undesired cards from swaps to local Nursing homes or Girls homes... I have also sent them out to soldiers overseas.
What is MOST important at this event is that we have a GREAT time; and do what we love to do! Follow your bliss!
Any ballpark numbers on the ATC swap? Should we be making 20, 40, 80? Just trying to figure out if I should order more cardstock - would like to take advantage of Sell-a-bration before the end of Feb. Thanks!

I'm so sorry I didn't let you all know sooner! Looks like we have 25 people who are participating... of couse this will be a "stand and swap" thing... during registration... so if anyone decides they want to still participate; go ahead and jump right in! No need to tell me if you change your mind. This is a casual swap... you might have a couple extras; you might miss a couple players... no biggie!
Thanks for the reminder.
Sorry I have not gotten THE FINAL RULES out there... with SAB this has been a bit crazy for me... so meanwhile feel free to bug me, remind me, or suggest ANYTHING!
I will also be depositing your checks this week. I have not taken off to mexico!
I will have a full day of NOTHING to do tomorrow; so I hope to get the lists updated and the emails out by the end of the day!
Btw; don't bother going to the Michael;s in Hoffman Estates for $1 stamps or $1 bin ribbon. I bought EVERYTHING they had that was cute! They now hate me there!
And I am sitting on a stash of over 15 pounds of dove chocolate as well. Think that'll be enough to serve 86 women?
nah, get another pound or two. I'm personally a Ghiradelli girl myself! ;)
great job Sarah! I cannot wait for March 31, actually I can, I have much to do before I can plan and cut, and make, and put together my demo, and , and, and, ....ugh! meanwhile i am going through 6 years of swaps sorting between -box for the troops, box for me to make into cards for the mil's retirement apt building people, and mine to sell at craft fairs. i really really don't need to keep everything, I just think so.
