Default MIX526 Now THAT's odd... (Feb 24, 2023)

Challenge: Now THAT's odd...
Host: ~ky (Scrapcat)
Keyword Gallery: MIX526

Let's take a look around for design elements! We often hear that groups of 3 are most pleasing to the eye. Why is that? Well, from birth, most mammals are seeking the face of their protector, feeder, life-giver, and teacher. Our faces have 3 distinct features visible to eyes that aren't quite ready to focus well. Two eyes and a mouth are where babies focus. That pattern, two large (eyes) and one small, or two small and one large (mouth), condense our vision. Later when eyes are better developed, babies will look from person to person and discover a line of people seated near them. Faces draw the eye.

Challenge - Use groups of three elements to draw the eye around your project. Or, just use a face! Bonus - share any other design principles with the group!

Your challenge is to explore how repeating patterns of 3 carry your focus around a card design. If a pattern is arranged in a row, it carries the eye in a straight line. If arranged in a triangle, the eye will track from one point to the next. Give it a try and share what you learn!

Remember to use at least 2 mediums

Well, it just happened that last night before I went to bed, I cut a mask with a trio of hexagons to try the Inkling tutorial this week. Sorry, hard to get a good photo, there's plenty of shimmer and sparkle.

And working up something that wasn't going to work for another challenge:

I'm not sure I got the most aesthetically pleasing placement of my three doves but here's my card anyway:

PCB Fishing by Shirleysgirl at Splitcoaststampers

Been wanting to get to this one for awhile for a scrapbook page and ended up making it very simple in nature. 3 spots of 3 to move eye around page, but used only marker, ink, and paper so not very mixed this time, but ironically only 3 elements as well.
