Challenge: The Write Words- mindfulness
Date: August 18,2023
When was the last time you wrote words on your art? It can be a little intimidating. Especially as stampers where we stamp most of our sentiments. Stamping sentiments while easy, limits you to whatever stamps you have in your stash. Doing your own writing gives you a way to truly personalize your work. One of the reason that I do art is for the therapeutic value. I like to pick a Bible verse that I meditate on while I work. For my example today I picked 2 Corinthians 10:5(b). The words are: “Take every thought captive to obey Christ” I picked what felt like the most important words. I wrote them in a larger size. I also varied the style of writing between the important words and the lesser importance.
When I first started writing on my work I struggled to know what the lettering should look like. One tool I use is fontsquirrel.com. I find a font I like and then I use the “test drive” feature. I type in the words and it gives me some direction. I just free hand but you could print it out and use tracing paper to get the words onto the page. For my project I wrote the words with pencil. For the smaller words I used a detail size marker. For the bigger words I used a size bigger. After I was done with the bigger words I used the pencil to thicken the lines and then added the thickness to the letters using an even bigger size of marker. For the art on this page I added traced overlapping circles which I then watercolored with light colors first then added darker colors. When dried I outlined the circles and sentiment box with marker. I then went into “thoughtfulness art or neurographic art” I rounded off corners from the intersecting circles.
When I plan my challenges I like to have a couple of choices that you can do so that everyone can play along. Your choices are:
1 write something on your art.
or
2 do neurographic art by doodling and then rounding off the corners
I am excited to see what you create. Remember to be mixed media you need to use two or more different art mediums.

On a side note I may be slower to comment on the gallery because I am taking my husband to a Dr visit to hopefully understand some of the neurological problems he has been experiencing since an accident in April. Prayers always appreciated.
