Sounds like many of you are having a great Craft Fair Season so far!

I had so much going on this fall that I ended up only signing up for one on Dec 1st and am starting to freak out haha.... Time is running out, and it feels like I will never have enough made. I plan on having individual cards, gift tags, gift card holders, peppermint treat packs for sure; also wanted to do a few rosette Christmas trees and clothespin card holders but not sure I will have time...

Can everyone share how much you take with you to a craft fair? Anything you would change for next year? Any tips are most appreciated, thanks!

Tetcha

Had my one and only craft show this past weekend. I was thrilled with the outcome! Could not believe what did and did not sell-
Almost all of my composition books went, and I almost did not put them out!
I sold 2 of the 7 tea sets I made ($6 each)
I almost sold out of the post-it holders I made (tutorial on MFT blog)
Sold a TON of cards (NEVER a big seller before!)
A few of the reindeer food went (been dragging those around FOREVER!)
Almost all my tag sets sold (10 different tags for $5 in either SU! bag or 6 x 6 holder)
Quite a few of my gift bags went which I put up on a whim ($3 each, never a big seller)
A handful of those clear stone magnets (10 - 15)
Almost all my mini bags (from Scor Pal website) with 3 x 3 cards ($5)
And I found some mini sanatizers that I made into Santatizers.
$263 for a $15 table fee. Best year yet at that show! My goal this year was to clear out some old crafting paper and embellishments- GOAL MET!
Good luck everyone on your upcoming shows!

I've been busy working on my items for the craft fairs and having a great time. Last night I was tossing and turning thinking how I was going to display all this on a 6x6 table. (I usually have two tables) I'll have to do a mock set up for sure!

Great hearing about all the success stories on your sales. Keep up the great news!

Default Ready For Santa Kits

I think 6.00 sounds good. I sell something similar but allot more simpler than what you put together...I charged 3.00 and almost sold out.
Good Luck.
Here are two photos ( I think). The kit was placed into a clear bag that came with an adhesive flap. I opened the flap and stuck it to my computer generated label with a "Deer Friends"(SU) Santa tag. The magic key and poem are on this side. The second photo is the back view which includes a letter to santa with matching envelope and pencil, a hot cocoa slider, I will also add a candy cane later. What do you think about a $6 price?

Knox, please send a photo of your santa kit. Thanks, Maria

Nice idea and they are adorable. I don't think you would have a problem selling them at 6.00. Well worth it.

You have been busy. What is a journal jar and book? What did you do with the playdough? Oh and the soap reindeer too? I haven't heard of a few of these items. Are you going to be posting any pictures?
Best of luck at your show.

Thanks everyone I have not taken any pics yet I will as I set up and post after, I really have found and cased all my items from here and the internet, the reindeer soap I found on pinterest, I think she called it flannel reindeer, the Journal jar and book is a jar with questions and a comp book and matching pen here is the link Adult Journal in a Jar: Easy Gift to Print | Organized Christmas

the play doh kit idea was from here as well, you bag the kool aid flour and salt with directions to make it.

The kool aid play doh kit sounds cute.

Now that you have shared that reindeer soap is also called a flannel reindeer, I am VERY curious about what this item is!

Cute reindeer soap (I assume its the washcloth one). I bought some of the reindeer cake pops that are on that site too - from a recent craft show. I think they used those cookies that have marshmallow top all covered in chocolate - pinwheels I think they are called. Thought they were cute for the grandkids.

Have my last church craft sale tomorrow. Its a new venue for me so I'm hoping for the best. Make some of the hershey trees (by the way, scoring and using the bone folder to get those score lines creased really helps when you put them together). Made some of the hershey stars too of of Brenda's site. More elf legs and cocoa packets (those sold really well). Rest is what I had left over. Hopefully I get a couple of notebooks done today too because those sold well and I'm down to just a few on those.

Good luck to everyone else who has a sale this weekend (or coming up!).

Does anyone have the download for the snowman popcorn? I had it and now I can't find it.....I know i could resize the little hershey snowman wrappers, but it would be easier if someone already had it ;)

yesterday was day one of a two day sale and the set up photos are now on the blog.
638.50 ( I think I sold about half the cards I took) only 2 of the altered santa keys sold, I did have one tray filled with the vintage buttons. the year I priced them at 3.50 they sold out fast, last year I bumped them to 4.50 and only sold 1 so this time I put them at 4.00 even like the keys I have 4 left I think.
so the rest of that total is all cards and tags.

Stacy's Memory Triggers: Shepherds Market 2013 { day 1}

the photos are blurry if you click on them to blow them up... ( its a very dark hallway in reality.)

Your craft show display is fantastic. You put allot of work into it and it shows. I've often thought of using a suitcase to display my cards. I don't have as many as you so I would need a smaller suitcase(I was even thinking of a kids suitcase). It would be great to store and carry your cards. How do you like yours? Do you find you sell more and the cards are easier for people to look at and show better that way?

Had a good first day of my 2 day sale. Sold out of my hot chocolate cones within the first half hour. Am making more of this this evening before I crash. I am pretty tired. It's a good problem to have though!

it's evolved over time, but I have always had them in something people could walk their fingers through for display ( started with baskets ) I like chicken wire ones because, it allows what is in the basket to peek through.
the suitcases I have only had for a couple of years, I like them. ( I store the made cards in them at home) and I have a stack of them now so, some are filled with things that don't go to the booth.
( like stuff I bought to alter and never got around to it yet)

I think if you have time to go to estate sales and yard sales then you should do that before I would say go online to etsy or ebay and pay for an old suitcase, sometimes no matter how long I leave them open they still smell a little well old so always the week before the booth I leave them all spread around the room open to let them air out. ( the cards get placed in clear envelopes sealed with the paper envelopes as they are made)

and the other thing that I think makes a huge difference in my booth and card sales over all is even though I will use the same stamp a few times ( like funny sentiments esp.) I change it up a little the colors or patterns used with it so, they still fall into that one of a kind thing.

for the smell in old suitcases try one or both of the following

1. pour cat litter in and close. clean & vacuum out after after a few days
2. I have always had great luck w/vinegar. for this I would spray the inside. And sit outside in the sunshine

Do you price your cards all the same? How do you determine what you charge? I have a hard time figuring out what to charge for mine.

I just got done putting everything away. so the room is ready to create in again, sorted all the price tags too ( I re-use them since I make those too) and the prices I go up and down on them over the years I used to get a lot more money for my cards 8 - 9 years ago then I do today. this last weekend I sold 1 8.00 card and maybe a dozen in the 5.00 range and maybe 6 that were 6.00 so, the bulk of what sold was between 2.00-4.00 range ( everything is in .25 cent marks so I can make change and count it easy in my head) so I have those little flat 3" cards at .50 cents and that is what makes them realize maybe they can afford the cards so they pick up a handful of those and then start looking at the cards. I make cards anywhere from 3" square to A-7 and they it depends on if I hand colored say a house mouse image with prisma pencils ( give that an hour) or I ran all the layers through my sewing machine or it has an store bought embellishment on it or a vintage piece of jewelry on it or it needs boxed. ( those I will charge more for) the flatter CAS ones that have no sewing and minimal embellishments are going to average about 3.00 range.

and it took me a long time to get the prices to work here for those sales. when we travel and I take themed Ren Faire ( priates fairies etc ) those I can easily ask 5-8 for each card. ( they are not CAS and they are all detailed and people sometimes will not even want their change) but, that is not the way it is where I live. so I think that where you are selling makes a difference too.

funny true story, the first year I set up my booth in the hallway the other vendors in the Gym and cafeteria were shocked I was actually selling cards. and I was selling them, I bag them all in nice handle bags for purchases too. the next year I counted 6 booths with cards... but, they made you know one stack of buying one stamp set and made them all carbon copies of each other.

( those people have gone back to their paper covered candy and painted wood)
there was only one other booth with cards in it this weekend and they were print outs of photographs. ( not stamped )
eta: one gal is now making paper banners, like with bunting? paper ones) and she is asking 30.00 for them... and I think she took them all home unless when people purchased one one came out from under the table, the ones in the display did not move.

so, I think if your going to do cards you want to make sure that you are the only person doing cards in that fair. that makes a huge difference too.

I have a friend who lives on the other side of the country from me who only makes A-2 sized cards and all her cards are exactly the same price. and that works for her, she sells them to a fruit market on consignment and just drops the cards off all year and gets one check at the end of it.

I used to sell them in a store that is on main street here and they demanded the cards be CAS and priced at under 2.00 so THEY could make a profit. lol... I don't do that anymore. they actually told it to me just like that.
when they first asked me to sell them there it was because, their manager seen them in my office as a fluke. and told me how she loved everything and the reality is they would be perfectly happy with hallmark cards and ugly art on them.
and now every time I get an offer from a store now it makes me cringe.

I think pricing cards is hard because, I get emotional about things I make and so... If I don't want to sell it, it is not in the display and If I am wobbling about it, I price it higher.

What are the flat 3" cards? At that price do you put an envelope with them?

I dont give them an paper envelope for a 3" card... they get put into a clear bag only.

Stacy's Memory Triggers: last minute stuffs...
(scroll down... or hit the home button and then scroll down past the booth mug shots.)
they are just 3X6 scraps folded in half with scraps glued to the front with sentiments that were stamped on scraps then diecut most of the time. no embellishments at all. ( made from throw a way stuff )

a lot of people tell me they plan to hang those little ones on their icebox like magnets so they don't need or want a paper envelope anyways... and the ones that want to mail them I tell them they have to put it in a mail allowed size envelope anyways. like letter size the po does not accept the 3" and 4" envelopes for mailing.

and a lot of them are more geared towards putting on a gift package... so you write the who its to inside and you let the art show on the outside kwim?

I see a long evening in front of me. I am not going to be able to get off your website. You are very talented. I love it all. Soooo many things to look at. The little cards are adorable. If I have time before my next show, I might make a few and see how they go. Great idea to get rid of all those scraps. Thanks for all the info and good luck to you and everyone at their shows.

I had my best show ever this past weekend. I really saw how much I sold when I packed up to go home and so many boxes were empty.
My hockey ornaments sold like crazy. I don't like sports so I never thought to do this before, but I just there are a lot of hockey fans to buy for. LOL I sold all 32 I had made for $4 each. I was very happy.
Now, I have to make more for my last 3 shows.
