Default Adhesive for cardstock/lunch tins

I've never done an altered lunch tin but I'd like to. So I did a little searching looking for ideas on what to use the box for after I alter it. And in the instructions I found, it seems people adhere their cardstock to it with Modge Podge. I don't have any of that, but want to know if I should get some. I want to do this right! And I want it to last a long time! I was just going to use Wonder Tape but now I'm second-guessing that.

I didn't use Modge Podge on my coaster boxes that I made and kind of wish that I did because the edges don't look as nice as they did at first. BUT coasters are a whole different ball game than tin!

Also, I have done some paint cans without Modge Podge and they seemed fine but I eventually gave them as gifts so I don't really know how they look now.

So what method have you used to alter YOUR tins? And how does it look after time? This will be a functional tin that does get used.

Thanks for your help!

I use Wonder Tape or Miracle Tape for my tins. Both work wonderfully.

I laminate the fronts only with the rolls of clear "mac-tac" type stuff sold at Walmart. I then use double-sided tape to adhere to tin. They are sttill sticking and the laminate protects them from messes

Thank you both! I couldn't wait to get started on my tin......so I went ahead without the Mod Podge and used Wonder Tape. I figured it's my first one, if I don't like the results - I'll do it different next time! ;)

Hi. I've made several and this is what I have learned. If you are using thick cardstock, tacky tape (or some type of double sided tape) works best. If you're using thin designer paper, use Modge Podge. Another helpful tip is to use a pot scraper to smooth out the paper and get the air bubbles out after putting your paper on the tin with Modge Podge. (I'm referrning to those brown scrapers that you get with the stones from Pampered Chef). Also I have learned that if you want to use ribbon around the top, do that last using tacky tape (after you are done with the Modge Podging). Have fun! I'm sure you'll have some tips to share after doing a couple. HTH.

I have used the Krylon spray adhesive for everything else and it has worked wonderfully!
