I'm doing a recipe scrapbook page swap and decided with the help of our very own, Jan Tink, to incorporate vellum in it, since my original order hasn't shown up yet from that I carefully planned to complete my proect.
Anywho...the question is this. I purchased some vellum tape locally, with hopes it won't show through the vellum, but after experimenting with it today, I was sad to learn that it DOES show through.
Anybody have any suggestions on how to overcome this little problem?

Hi Cindy lou ho, I asked this question at a scrapbooking convention this summer. They told me you really have to rub the tape hard to get it to disappear. I haven't had a chance to try it yet. They also told me to always store it in a plastic bag to protect the edges from getting dirty which would than show through the vellum. Good luck. Adhesives and vellum still don't get along for me either. Ann
Do you have a Xyron? I find this is the best way to adhere vellum because the entire piece is covered... ergo, nothing to "show through" -- works well.

you can use adhesive spray, and spray the vellum all over, and wait for it to dry a little. then stick it on. if you stick it when it's still wet, it'll show, but if you let it dry a little it won't. it'll be like a sticker, sticky all over.
The spray adhesive I used had a strong odor and didn't really hold all that well. I'm with ReindeerTrout on the Xyron machine... it works the best for me.

I have used the tape and you really have to follow the instructions about rubbing thoroughly. I liked it.
More often, I just plan on hiding the adhesive somewhere under a design element. You can just glue it down in a staight line and put a strip of paper or ribbon over it.
I've also heard that it makes a difference where you place the tape. Try placing the tape on the paper underneath the vellum, then pressing the vellum down vs placing the tape directly on the vellum. See if that makes it invisible.
I will play around with them and see what works. I LOVE the look of vellum and sure hope I can pull this off.
I live in the country and don't have any scrapbook stores open here, so I guess I'll just have to play with my vellum tape, since I don't have a Xyron machine yet. I hope to get one for Christmas.
Happy stamping every1!

I have heard that if you touch the velum to the tape versus taping the velum and just lightly touch it a little, it will stick to it and that's all you need. Then appy it to whatever. I tried it and it worked for me. So, try not appling the tape to the velum, but the velum to the tape.

I have experimented with soooooooo many vellum tapes. The best one and the only one I will ever use now is made by "Wacky" and they have several types of adhesives. It has never shown thru any of my vellum projects. Its been on QVC and I do believe on DIY. It comes on a rull and lasts forever.
When I went to CK in Manchester, NH-new product mentioned on the market by Creative Imaginations-Scrappers' Spray ( 7 oz.)-CK OK, invisible adhesive spray, temporarily re-positionable & photo-safe
I find it works great on vellum-the local scrap store carries it. I haven't seen it in the craft stores yet. Also try their web-site: www.cigift.com
P.S. I love using it for acetate(transparencies) as well!
I have been using Scotch brand vellum tape from Walmart and have found it to be invisable. You do have to press very hard and rub a little before you pull the paper back off. It works great for me.

:? I'm confused...what do you mean by...before you pull the paper back off...
is it a double sided tape !!! hmmm...maybe I just answered my own question !!!!
Let me know, cuz if not...I'm totally clueless on that one.

I hate that stuff!! It's wrecked more projects than I can shake a stick at...Julie HRR mentioned a removable glue stick by 3M but I can't find it anywhere....I'm gonna start begging my friends on Vancouver Island to start looking for me!!
