Coaster Help--I broke my Xyron!!!

After helping to make beautiful coasters at my Coaster Stamp Camp, I broke my Xyron trying to make my cork backs into stickers. In front of my class, it was a little embarassing. It had worked great before, although the handle was more difficult to turn than with regular card stock. This time the handle clicked loudly and totally stopped turning. I fear it has no more days left, but I'll have DH look at it.

So--my question is this. If you do not use Xyron, which craft glue works best? I tried Crystal Effects, and it was too runny. I tried my E6000, and even after the coaster dried, it was still very stinky. Help Please!!!

I used hot glue gun - but you have to apply the glue to the cork first and then quickly stick together. The marble stays cool and dries the glue so fast. When I tried to glue putting it on the tile first - it was hard before I could even pick uup the cork piece. They seem to be holding very well - and I did them in February. I never thought to use Xyron. Does it hold very well?

I use Alene's Tacky Glue. I made mine over a year ago, and there have been no problems.

For my tumbled tile coasters I've always used the little round felt pads (heavy duty ones), 84 to a pack for $2.69. Just put one on each corner and I'm done.

I use the felt with the sticky back as it seems to be thicker but if I was going to use any kind of glue I'd also use Tacky glue.

My 8-yr-old son thought of using the scrap rubber pieces to put under the coasters. I just used some triangle pieces I had and put them on the four corners. I knew I was saving the scrap pieces for something

Yes to both of the above and there is also cork sheets with sticky back adhesive--just cut to size with a paper cutter.

My local Lowe's has shelf liner in cork that already has an adhesive backing on it. The protector is sometimes a little iffy to get started, but it's a lot easier than digging out a heat gun or ruining your Xyron!
