FABRIC STAMPING WITH PIGMENT INK
(Note: White, Really Rust, More Mustard, and Only Orange may not be quite as dark because of high saturation of pigment.)
1. Wash & dry fabric; don't use softener or dryer sheets.
2. Place cardboard under fabric to be stamped.
3. Lightly load stamp with SU! Craft ink pad and stamp image with Stamp-A-Ma-Jig in place. Repeat-stamp image until desired color is achieved.
4. For Outline Images-heat set image outline a few seconds prior to coloring to prevent bleeding. TIP: To prevent black outline from smearing into colors when stamping an outline that is to be filled in, you may want to stamp outline once, heat set, color in image, heat set, and, using Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, repeat stamp outline until desired outline is achieved.
5. To fill in image with pigment markers, first test on scrap fabric. Color almost to edge of outline as bleeding may occur. Note: If coloring directly with marker is too dark, first color onto plastic, then pick up color with cosmetic applicator and apply to image.
6. Heat set each image with heat emboss gun or iron as soon as it is filled in to prevent bleeding.
7. When all stamping is complete, heat set pigment ink on high 1 to 2 min w/iron then place in dryer for 30 min
8. If desired, glue on embellishments or add glitter glue.
FABRIC STAMPING WITH FABRIC OR ACRYLIC PAINT
(recommended for solid images only, not outlines)
A. Follow steps 1. and 2. above.
B. FOR ACRYLIC PAINT ONLY--Mix with Fabric Medium.
C. Place small amount of paint on paper plate and into this dab a small sponge paint brush.
D. Lightly spread paint onto stamp, and with Stamp-A-Ma-Jig in place, stamp onto fabric.
E. Repeat C. and D. until desired color is achieved. If using acrylic paint/medium, heat set each separate image with heat emboss tool as you go. Then heat set acrylic paint per fabric medium directions (Do not heat fabric paint).
F. Embellish as desired.
Fabric Stamping Tips:
- Practice stamping on sample fabric.
- Repeat-stamp image using Stamp-a-ma-Jig for darker image.
- Stamp lighter colors first.
- Wait at least 48 hours before washing.
- Wash fabric as you normally would, but let it air or line dry.
- Clean pigment ink off stamps with baby wipes, then with SU!
Stampin Scrub.
- Acrylic/Fabric Paints-Keep paint brush wrapped in wet paper
towel while using a different brush (color), and place stamp
down on wet paper towel until it can be cleaned with hot
water & toothbrush.
