Using a large needle or paper punching tool (not a hole punch) or even a sewing machine, punch holes in your paper in the pattern you'd like, then connect those holes together w/ a gel pen. The white SU! gel pen is beautiful w/ this technique. If you go to the gallery and do a search you can probably find lots of wonderful samples.
I really do appreciate your quick response to my question! I have a piercing tool and now I know that I should use my white gel pen to "connect the dots". I will go to your samples now and I'm sure they will inspire me even more.
Thank you and best regards,

LATER: Oh, I love your cards and they really did help me to understand!
These were my first and second attempts at faux stitching ... I'm HOOKED! (And I will definitely be ordering the mat pack on my next order ... need the little template to help me know where to poke evenly!)
If you look around the gallery a bit, you'll see examples of other kinds of faux stitching besides the straight stitch - zig zag, cross stitch, blanket stitch. All cute!
i have been working alot lately with this technique too , although just the basic straight one...i am going to the gallery to see the other examples....
I don't even punch holes, I just wing it. Here are some of my examples:.....
You "wing it" really well. I love both of those cards.

I'm thinking that my computer's drawing/painting program will make dotted lines. So I could draw squares, ovals, hearts, whatever with dotted lines; print on scrap paper; and punch through both the print and the cardstock.
I got hooked on stitching cards about 2 years ago, and man is it fun. I love the different looks, patterns and colours. You can combine stitching with so many other techniques to create beautiful and unique cards. You can also incorporate beads into the stitching for an even fancier card. If you go to www.formalines.com, they have a couple of stitching card patterns that you can download for free. Check them out, you can also order other patterns from them. Once you try stitching cards, you'll be hooked like I am.
Happy Stitching!
