Default Question on Polished Stone Technique

I did this technique last night on a card. I used glossy cardstock, Close To Cocoa & More Mustard classic re-inkers and the gold re-inker that SU sells. The gold would not dry and powders off the next day. What am I doing wrong? Not enough alcohol, too much alcohol, to much gold. I even tried heat setting. I did this at a stamp camp a few months back and didn't have this problem.

This has been a topic of discussion a few times on this site. What I got out of them is that you need to emboss it after you finish the technique. (use gold embossing powerder for gold ink, etc). Mine wouldn't set either, even after spraying it with hairspray.

I've never tried hairspray, but I seal my polished stone with a matte craft sealer. Bought it at Wal-Mart for a few bucks. It works just fine with that.

Yup - just went and rubbed some polished stone paper I made the other night. No gold flakes!

Default polished stone

Thanks so much.
I remember doing it at a stamp camp, and not having to spray with anything. I guess it depends on how much of the metallic re-inker you use. I'll try the hairspray. sealant and posssibly embosing
I did find the other thread on this too.

Default POLISHED STONE

I have never used a reinker, all I do is take my sponges and go lightest color first and sponge right from the stamp pad. I do this 3 times unless I get the look I want on the second try.
Then I use clear EP and cover it works great.

I use Pantene hairspray on my polished stone, and it takes two quick spritzes to seal it.

I have never used the polished stone with metallic inks, so it doesn't have to be sealed without them and is still very pretty! I will have to try some metallic inks now!

I don't use the metallic inks or reinkers. I use the Krylon gold or silver paint pens. I just dab them on my cotton ball or felt along with my other inks and blend. I have never had to seal my polished stone.

Tonya, Thanks for the tip, I have the Krylon gold and silver pens (but no metallic inks!) and I look forward to trying this method with the pens! Thanks for sharing!

Hey, that's a great idea to use the pens. I'll have to give it a try. The hairspray is a pain, but it's worth it for the effect. It sure would be nice not to have to use it.

Default Polishing Stone

I have looked for the Krylon pens and maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing but I can't find them. Help! What do I look or and where!?!?

I use the Krylon Gold leaf pen as well. (The regular Krylon I use for edging does not work, it has to be the "Leaf" one.)

No sealing needed :-)

Before I actually tried the technique, I (fortunately) read somewhere that if you use the Brilliance metallic reinkers they dry with no problem. So that's what I used and it worked great!
