I am trying to figure out which ATG gun to buy - the yellow one, red one or the more recent pink one. Can anyone out there tell me the differences between the three? All I have been able to figure out is the pink one "may" be smaller/different/not as sturdy as the other two but nothing specific.
Hope someone can help cuz I need to purchase soon!!!!!
I don't know anything about the pink one but I do know the yellow uses 1/2" tape while the red one (which I have and love) uses 1/4" tape. That is all you need to do cards or scrapbooking. I get all my supplies at: framingsupplies.com Very happy with their service. HTPs
I think the pink one is a lighter version of the red one (714) - both 1/4 inch tape. I have the yellow one (700) for the 1/2 inch tape that I converted to 1/4 inch tape. I buy my refills from thetapedepot. At this point in time I'd suggest the red one because of sturdier construction. If I had to choose over again that's what I'd buy. But - don't think for 1 moment that I'm giving up my (painted and converted) yellow one! I still love it.
I have the pink one from Michael's and have had the red 714 for a few years. There is absolutely no difference that I can see. They are the exact same size and weight. Before they came out their was some discussion about the pink one not being as heavy or well made. But after using both I really cannot see any difference other than price.
I spoke to the vendor at CHA trade show and the only difference between the red & the pink is the color. It is being marketed to crafters; while the red one was marketed to "professionals." The pink one also costs less.
I have and love the red one, but now that there is a pink one, I wish I'd lost mine (snicker). Much too practical for that, though, so red it is. I bought my mom the pink one, and, for what I can tell, they ARE the same.
I buy my tape from the framing company online. SUPER good deals!
I have & love the Red one, had it for 4 years & just bought the Pink one to keep as a spare & for friends who come over to craft & forget their adhesive. The Pink one is exactly the same as the red one...I love them both! I'd say get the Pink one it comes with 2 rolls of adhesive & is cheaper than the Red one. I'm lucky enough to have a 3M Mfg. down the street from me so I call them with my order for tape & then pick it up the next day, I love it & I save on shipping.

I usually buy the 6 pack but last time I bought the 12 pack (I had to replenish my stock after I did wedding projects for my son last year), I bought the 12 pack in September & I still have 5 rolls left & that's normal use. I'll be back to buying the 6 rolls when I order next month to get ready for Christmas projects. Here's the link to A-Pack mfg. where I buy the 1/4" Gold acid free 36 yards of 3M 908 Gold tape.
I have had the red one for two years, and just bought the pink one on friday, its the same as the red but pink
and for the price of the pink one, its worth buying ;)
I am still deciding as I was thinking the yellow would be good to use with the larger tape for bigger projects. My thought is that I would use less tape. The price of the pink is enticing though.
Lisa, remember to think about how you will use your gun most often. If you do mostly cards and scrapbooks with a few projects here and there, save the money and buy the new pink one. You can always run two lines of adhesive next to each other on your projects if you need to. Have fun with whatever you decide to purchase!
I just recently purchased the yellow one. Before the ATG, I used Scotch double-sided tape and was happy with the coverage it provided, so I decided to get the ATG that had the same size of adhesive (1/2"). I also like that I have the option of getting the 1/4" converter in the future should I change my mind.

Ryann - I think I've decided to go with the yellow one. As with you, I like having the different size tape options instead of having to buy a different gun for a different size. Which tape did you buy?
It's my understanding that the pre-stamper primary users of the ATG gun are picture framers. The yellow one would be advisable for heavy mat board application, but it's just overkill for cardmaking and scrapbooking. The red and pink will work fine (I have both), and the pink has something like 10% of the price going to cancer research, I think.
I have the pink one and just love it. According to the Scotch company, it is the same as the red one, just pink because a portion of the proceeds go to Breast Cancer research.
My first Atg was the yellow one, love it but wanted 1/4" for cards - so I bought the adaptor Hate installing it too much work etc etc. So I bought the red one, yes i kept the yellow one. So 2 coffee mugs on the work space and I have my red one which i use mostly for cards, and the yellow one which i use for scrapping or vice versa.
I just got the pink one for a friend for Christmas. If I had to choose of only one it would be the pink one (I hate red!). I am not sure there is a wrong answer here other than you NEED a ATG. I order from framingsupplies.com and the service, shipping is second to none.
Hope this helps......

Ok just found the pick one at Michael used my coupon. Love that some of proceeds go to cancer, since I work at cancer hospital. I just didst realize how big gun is. I hope it will be easy to use. Thanks for everyone's help.
