Default Does anyone know anything about Craft ROBO?

I was wondering how it compares to the Cricut.

It is like a Silhouette or a Wishblade. You don't need cartridges, you plug it to your computer and can cut whatever you want.

I have one of the original Craft Robos - love it. I think it depends what you're like as a crafter though. If you like to have shapes and decide what you can make out of them you might like the Cricut better - if you like to design from scratch and are comfortable with graphics software you might find the Robo more versatile.

I use a free vector graphics program called Inkscape to design my own templates. There are lots of gsd files available for free online if you don't want to design everything from scratch and you can use dingbat fonts for shapes too.

If you have any specific questions, shout up and I'll do my best to answer.

ETA: I meant to say that Lauraline hit the nail on the head - CraftRobo is the name in the UK/Europe for the machine that is called a Wishblade in the US. The Silhouette is essentially the same machine but tweaked and branded for QK.

Depending on where you live, you will have different prices for Silhouette, Craft Robo and Wishblade, as they are not manufactured at the same place. Here in Quebec, only the Craft Robo is sold in Montreal, so that's why I got this one. Silhouette is available through online orders, as the Wishblade is, but the wishblade is for us really expensive.

Angelnorth, with the Inkscape software, can you draw using x,y coordinate system? The software I'm using was redesigned for scrapbookers and they unfortunately removed that function... I'm an engineer and I'm used to work with Autocad, so I would like to find a software that works with my Craft Robo and that I can use the same "thinking" to draw.

Thanks,
Lauraline

Ummm, I'm afraid the quick answer to that one is "I don't know" Lauraline (maybe because I'm not an engineer?!). There are x y coordinates shown on the screen but I wouldn't know what to do with them, I'm afraid. I did a quick screen shot, you can see the x and y boxes towards the left of the screen in the tool bar - does that help at all?

Thanks, it is OK. Since it is free anyway, I will try it.

Default Help!

Hi!
I have had a Craft Robo for about a year now. I use it now and then. I just put a new blade in and am having trouble cutting Stampin Up paper. Does anyone have any idea what the setting should be to cut properly? I am not cutting 3 times over one GSD FILE just to cut it out on SU paper. My Craft Robo is also starting to freeze up.

Thanks for any help!

Julie
