I just bought a "new and improved" Fiskars trimmer last week and cant get a straight cut either. I thought I was going crazy, so it will be going back also.

Thanks for the answers, Erin. After hearing Shannon's story, I might be leaning toward the MM trimmer! I'm going to check out the SU trimmer too. And all I needed was a little encouragement to get the Scor-Pal. :-D

I'm confused. I thought the Tonic was the same as the SU tabletop cutter and that you could NOT cut yourself. Can someone clear this up for me?

DON'T make me post a pic of my finger!
My Tonic cutter can AND does cut fingers if you do NOT use the safety shield. Trust me!
Just cut smart and careful!

Default smaller trimmer?

does anyone know of a great trimmer that is better than a regular fiskars trimmer but is about the same size as that. i checked out the tonic one, but it looks so big and would rather have something that takes up less space rather than more space. Also the fiskars newest regular paper trimmer is supposed to be new and improved and even has a spot at the end for replacing the blade so that the guided don't get stretched out and make cutting go crooked. i have also found that if you hold the paper down, the fiskars trimmer doesnt go crooked. what makes it go crooked is when the paper shifts while cutting, also if you cut too fast. I love my fiskars new and improved trimmer, and when you work with it, it works great.

Wow! There are quite a few votes for the Tonic.

As a few people said though, I am really looking for something light and portable. Oh and I need something that can score as well. I'm thinking about the Fiskars triple track cutter or something similar. I just hate to waste my money again!!

Thanks for all of the help!!

As I mentioned before I have the Fiskars Ultimate Craft Trimmer and I really like it. It cuts straight and has a scoring blade included. It's a rotary trimmer and has rulers on both sides that both fold up so it's easy to take along with you. The blades and cutting strips are pretty easy to find - AC Moore has them here. This is just the first link I found, you may be able to find it less expensive somewhere else.

I just got a brand new Fiskars triple track trimmer, it's the red one and the little slider piece had a heart on it. I think it was a special design that donated $ for heart disease or somthing. All I can say is, I am glad my $ helped charity, because the trimmer is awful! It cuts mostly straight, but it tears up my paper in the process. All the edged are ratty looking. I put the replacement blade in and same thing! Very frusterating.
