Ideas for Creative Memories
I know it's not SU, but I am going to my first CM party tomorrow night. Any recommendations? I can always get paper but I was wondering if there are any other items that would be wonderful for card making & stamping.
I love their square punches, and if they still have it, there is a punch that makes bubbles. Really cute. I always go to parties thinking I will just buy something small to help the hostess, but then I get there and they usually demo somthing that I just have to have! Have a great time and hope you learn something new. Remember....cards are just mini scrapbook pages....just have to scale everything down.
I only have 2 CM products but like them both. The sidekick is a cool cup holder you can screw onto your crafting table with an optional scrap bag. I also like the shape maker punches - they punch 2 different sizes that nest together. Have fun at the party!
I know everyone's going nuts over the round/oval punches right now, but I really like my CM round cutter. It's the thing with three templates and various blades, so you can cut matching shapes and mats.

I use my sidekick to hold my heat gun. I drop the cord down through the cup handle slot, so that the nozzle of my gun is always pointing up. Really helps when you need 2 hands for the paper, and I hear your gun will last longer if the nozzle is up so the heat doesn't get trapped.
Here's another vote for the cutting system. I just love it. I also have the hexagon shape makers which are nice for layering. I just wish they also came in a bigger size.
My friend swears by the titletopia aligners for her scrapbook pages. She uses a lot of the sizzix alphabet sets that she puts through her xyron and then uses the titletopia to get all the letters aligned perfectly. That could be useful on cards where if you wanted to make a custom greeting/phrase.

Great idea! I'm always afraid I'm going to put the heat gun down somewhere where it will damage something while it's still hot. I'll have to find my sidekick and put it to good use!
I am a Creative Memories consultant, although currently inactive, and absolutely recommend the cutting system. I would also recommend the decorative trimmer--it has curve/swell patterns that allow you to cut paper in swells and "waves"--good for borders and water images in scrapbooking and cards. Have fun!

Thanks in advance!
you'll like the tools they have. Punches and cutting system are great. I am very new to stamps (Nov 2006) is when I learned and have used some of the tools for making scrapbooks and for making my cards.
See how they use the tools. I am a former CM consultant.
the photo storage box ( I have the large one and the small one), cutting system, new glue pen, punches, the everyday power pallette is great for doing kids pages
As a former CM consultant, I have a ton of stuff I use for my card making - the personal cutter, the adhesives, the decorative and straight cutters, corner rounders, the blue lifting tool mentioned previously (can't remember the name of it) can be used even as a bone folder would be used, the circle and oval cutting systems, the square, round, and hexagon punches (large) and of course, papers. CM came out with the adhesive pen after I quit but it is probably the one thing I would purchase given the opportunity. I have noticed that stickers (not CM, just in general) make my cards look cheap, but are cute on my pages. What's with that? Have fun - CM is high quality, archival, well tested, and a good value for your money.
I love the decorative trimmer, their punches, which are the best quality - the bubble maker punch is very cool - the side kick and the little blue multipurpose tool...they also have some very cool metallic papers :-)
Not a huge CM fan but their cutting system if you cut circles and ovals is WAY better than the Coluzzle but it's kind of expensive. I love their power sort box for power layouts (only way to scrap in my opinion - I save a ton of money by doing it this way). For a cheap purchase I swear by their adhesive. I DESPISE SU's mono. It never lasts and things come unstuck. CM's came out with a new design for their tape runner about a year or so ago and I LOVE it!!!
Punches - they have great selection including Disney items; the cutting system- there is no comparison, easy to use and a perfect cut each time. They also have a new line of velum expressions which have several different themes and fonts - they look great on cards and in scrapbooks.
Cutting system: oval and circle, multipurpose tool is very helpful especially if you use their photo mounting tape on cards( I do) and you don't get the layer straight and need to pick it up. Punches are very good.

Thanks for your suggestions!
I ended up ordering the 12-inch decorative cutter and 3 sets of 12x12 double sided paper. I have the EK Success Curvy Cutter System and once I saw the CM one, I realized I liked mine better. Why spend money on items that I already have, right? Thanks again for everyones help!
cutting system for sure...best money ever spent on CM products right there...
and the little pull up tool...not sure what it's called...it's blue and has a thin spatula end...I use it constantly to take things apart...
Shell its called a multi purpose tool Actually to take things apart that is MUCH easier and won't dent or ruin pages is dental floss works like a charm
I too am a former consultant and have just about everything. The only stuff that I have that has really moved over with me from scrapbooking and cardmaking are the tools.
*12 inch and personal trimmer
*custom cutting system with oval and circle shapes
*shape makers (punches)
*tape runner
*new precision glue pen
The journaling pens are great for scrapbooking and work well for doodling on cards. I love the paper and stickers for scrapbooking but they dont' work well on cards. However I do like the storybox photo mats for cards because they are perfectly size squares of designer paper plus some journaling boxes you can save for your scrapping. And all the storage products work great for both. Especially the 12-inch decofile folders. You can keep your full sheets of paper in the big pocket and your scraps in the small one. very handy.
