I don't know specifically about the CB but I tried using those windows in the big shot without the big card-cutting thingy. First off, the sandwich needs to change since you don't have the window die sitting on the metal layer. Then it makes funny noises when you cut.
I am thinking you could use them with the original sizzix machine since is is a straight press, not a roller. But I am leery of trying it with the roller machine...afraid I might break something.
Yes, you can use the small shape dies without the large platform die. I've done it many times, though in a Big Kick, not in a Cuttlebug.
Here is the sandwich I use in my Big Kick. You'll have to adapt it for a Cuttlebug. FYI The reason I have the Sizzix Texturz Impression Pad from the Texturz Kit there is to make up for the height of the missing platform. If you don't have the specific piece on this list, substitute something else. You just need the right height for your CB and a cutting plate (cutting pad, in Sizzix terms) on top.
The BK sandwich:
Sizzix Texturz Impression Pad from the Texturz Kit (the hard plate, not the silicone rubber)
Sizzix Cutting Pad
M&S die
cardstock to be cut
Sizzix Cutting Pad
Works like a charm! I don't have a problem with the die moving around. I used to put a little double-stick tape down, but I don't anymore (unless it's critical the die cut the paper exactly where I put it). Apparently my cutting pads are scratched up enough that they provide good traction for the die!
One advantage to using the dies alone is that you do not need the Sizzix Extended Cutting Pads. You can use the standard cutting pads.

I've used the SU shapes by themselves without the window in the Cuttlebug, they work just fine. Also, some of the shapes coordinate with punches so they can be layered.

I havent bought these yet because I didnt know if you could use them in the Cuttlebug, however, the descriptions above remind me of using the Nestabilities. They dont move around when you cut (for the most part) with the Cuttlebug. Are these Movers & Shapers dies similar to the Nesties? I would love to buy them, but always put them off for that reason, because it says that you HAVE to have the other die to be able to use them. Hmmm, maybe more for me to spend my money on.
I think I've perfected it, at least for my Cuttlebug machine.....
Bottom to top:
~ chipboard shim (thickness varies, so experiment)
~ 1 tan Wizard pad
~ C plate
~ M&S Punch Window (foam side up)
~ cardstock to be cut
~ B plate
I'm so excited to use these! It's working like a charm.
Hope that gives some encouragement to those of you who are on the fence about buying the Movers & Shapers Punch Windows without spending extra for the other, more expensive, piece.
Happy stamping!

Thanks for the Cuttlebug Sandwich! Very tasty! ;-)
I almost put these in my last order but did not want to purchase the expensive Bigz die to go with. I sure wish the curly label shape was in the add-on set - the only way to get that shape is with the Bigz die. Of course that shape is my favorite!
Thank you so much for sharing the sandwich recipe. I sat here for an hour trying to figure it out before I googled it and found your post. It worked perfectly for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Just got the bigs gears and wondered how it would work, a B plate, the die and a B plate with a shim. The shim was the cardboard piece from the embossing folder package. It cut beautifully. Now, will this damage the CB if you just use those plates and not the honeycomb base plate, does anyone know?
