Default Reinking

How much ink to you put onto a pad you are re-inking? Just a few drops, or more than that? I put 5 little drops onto my spots and then I found when I used the spot on a stamp the stamp had places with more ink than others...essentially where I had put the ink onto the spot.

With Versamark re-inker is there a different way I should do it, or does it just take a while to sink into the pad? Right now it seems that the drops I put on are just sitting on top of the pad.

Thanks for your help!

I haven't ever reinked the spots, but for my full size pads I usually squeeze a small stream of ink and go back and forth evenly. Then I use the tip of the reinker and "smoosh" the ink around so that it goes into the pad evenly. Does that make sense? It probably is the same with the spots - just less area to cover.

Good luck

1/3 to 1/2 a bottle. I love juicy pads.

I ink my spots and big ink pads the same way. Just squeeze and keep an even 'stream' of ink coming out as I go up and down the entire ink pad from one side to the other.

OK - with spots just do a few drops (3-4) at a time and work them in with the tip of your reinker. just rub gently back and forth. If spots get to juicy they can leak. Craft pads usually take at least 1/3 of a bottle. spots = 5 - 10 drops. HTH

Default I have similar questions?

When do you re-ink? Do you re-ink before putting your pad away if it has been used a lot, or so you wait until it is obviously very dry.

And

How do you know when it is just time to get a new pad? I've had some of my pads for 8+ years. (I'm trying to decide if I can justify getting the new style SU pads to replace my old ones)

For the versamark, there are instructions on the bottle. Squeeze drops onto pad then rub in with nozzle. As for how much to put on, I had not used mine for several years so sprayed a couple of pumps of the refresher onto the pad then used about 1/4 of the bottle, squeezing 4-5 drops at a time then rubbing in. It is noted that for regular ink pads where you can't massage in the ink to distribute, you should wait at 1/2 hour or so for the ink to evenly distribute on it's own via osmosis.
