I was wondering if anyone has used the scented embossing powders and if they "REALLY" smell. Are they a waste of money? Or can we create them from home?
Give me some advice please!!!

you can make your own using 2 parts clear EP to one part SUGAR-FREE gelatin (the key is using artificial sweetener b/c if it's real sugar, it will "cook" with the heat gun).
Try searching the forums for scratch and sniff -- or some variation of those words. There are several threads, but I can't remember what the "right" words were!
I've done it a few times and haven't had issues with the dye. It is not a smooth finish though - it stays kind of rough b/c of the jell-o. I've never used "store bought" scented powder (didn't even know you could actually!) so I can't compare.
I've attempted to make my own, and I have some bought ones as well.
My home-made attempts varied. The first time I didn't use sugar-free (oops!). Also, as it was grape kool-aid, it was this nasty green colour, not purple. My only successful homemade one was with cinnamon and clear EP.
I've bought both the chocolate one and the cherry one from gelatinstamps.com. They smell amazing. They say they have a "shelf-life" of 3weeks. Most of the items I've embossed still smell past that though.
I remember buying some several years ago....coffee, rose, etc. None of them stayed "smelly" very long, except maybe the rose one...THAT one was awesome!
Just use regular Kool-Aid powder, the kind you're supposed to add sugar to. Experiment with it a little--it's fun. My favorite way to use it is mixed into clear ep, applied to colored craft ink. That way any "off" color will be hidden by the ink.
Another brainstorm I had a couple of years ago was adding peppermint essential oil to a versamark pad to make scented ink. It faded on the cardstock almost immediately, but that pad still smells great when I take the lid off! Too bad it didn't work on the cards.
I have coffee and chocolate from cornish and they don't stay smelly long on the card. It only lasted a few days and that was it. It was fun when using Like it a Latte, but I don't think it had much smell by the time it reached my friend. She sent me a card with vanilla for the steam and I instantly sniffed my card and the scent was slight.
