My Stampin' Scrub is getting quite dirty....OK well really inky....I have heard of people putting it in the dishwasher to clean it but I don't have a dishwasher.....how would I go about cleaning it?
I take my pad out of the container, and spray it with the side sprayer on my sink. This gives more water pressure on the pad. I do that until the water runs clear, and then pat it dry with a paper towel to get most of the water out. Then I put it back in the plastic, and allow it to dry completely before closing it and putting it away.
I rinse mine and use a squeegy to get every last bit of water out. Even after that I blot with paper towels to absorb every last bit of ink. I find it best to clean it regularly, once a week or so.
Dishwasher or clothes washer on delicate here. I have 4 sets of pads that I rotate on two scrubbers. I clean them often too because I hate to clean a stamp and then have it stamping black.
I have a white stamp scrubber that I clean in water with a bit of bleach. I soak, rinse, and squish all the water out. Air dry over night and it's pretty clean.

I read somewhere that after you do all the cleaning of it, put fabric softner on it and then rinse that off well. I do it, and it's nice and soft, but I wonder if it is a good idea!
I wash mine in the sink w/ warm water and Joy which is my regular dish soap. Mine are the little painting pads so I'm not overly particular with them. I rinse well and dab w/ a towel and lay out to air dry. They're not always bone dry when I use them again but since I'm spraying them w/ the baby wash cleaner, I don't think it matters - they're gonna be wet anyway.
The scrubbing they get does make them get *scratchy* over time. Great idea using liquid fabric softener, it sure would make them soft. I'm wondering, too, if there's some chemical reason not to use it. We sure don't want to harm our rubbah or polymer stamps. I bet there would be some sort of *build up* from the softener the same as on clothes/towels so I guess we shouldn't use it every time. Hmmm... anybody know any danger of using the fabric softener?

I hand wash mine with warm water and liquid soap. Run my fingers through it to be sure it gets clean. Rinse VERY well and blot it dry with a thick bath towel. I don't have a dishwasher, but have heard you can use that too.
I use whatever kind of ink I want, but just find with darker inks, I need to wash it more frequently. I may not wash it every time I use it, but at least every three days. Just depends on how much use it gets and the darkness of the ink.
Much easier to use than dauper top stamp cleaner bottle and paper towel. Does a better job. I feel I'm actually useing less stamp cleaner also, therefore more economical. I don't have the Stampin' Up model, mine is from AC Moore, but still is the same thing.
When my scrub's dirty, I take the whole thing (case and all) and spray it down in the sink with the sprayer until I see the water run clear. I then grab a papertowel or white washcloth and scrub the pads. If ink somes off, under the sprayer it goes again. This continues until water comes up clear with the paper towel/white washcloth.
Sit it tent shaped in the drain rack and let it dry.
deipara.....In your case, I would suggest that you do what you're doing but also take the pads out of the case to clean them separately, too. They come out very easily by just gently bending them so you can get them out from under the little nubby pieces that hold them in the case. This way you can really be sure you are getting the pads clean and dry.
WOW! LOL I really am new and I was just reading all different forums trying to gather little pieces of info from each one.
I have a stamp cleaner and I noticed how dirty it was getting and thinking that I had to go BUY a whole new one....lol I never thought of washing it.
gosh Im glad you all are here...cuz even when you think you are posting something that a lot of people know, there is always someone new, like me that is very happy knowing that I can just wash mine and it will be ok!

That is what SCS is all about!! ;)

I use Dan soap and an old nail bursh to get off my StazOn ink. I just kind of scrub it to aggitate and then soak it for awhile to get it nice and clean, then I spray with the sprayer and let it air dry. It isn't brand new looking but you would never be able to tell that it has seen so much SatzOn.
I use craft ink 95% of the time, so I have 2 stampin' scrubs that I alternate between. Usually after a few projects it needs cleaning so I do as others...rub with a little dish soap on my hand under running water. Then I drape it over the faucet to drip dry. I tend to do it before bed and then grab it to put away in the morning, but if I'm doing a lot of stamping I can usually give it 20 minutes or so "dripping dry" and blot with paper towels before reusing. That seems to be good enough! ;)
Welcome Anza! Yes, you've found a GOLD MINE here!
FYI... I buy the little replacement paint pads at Wal-Mart. They're the same thing and will give you more *stamp dollars*. ;) Cut them to fit in a clear SU! clam case. If you don't have one, any plastic container will work, even a zippy bag. I use 2. One for Staz-On and another for my other inks. I don't have any SU! inks but I use Colorbox Fluid Chalk inks alot and VersaMark Onyx Black and Vintage Sepia for permanent images to color with Prismacolor/Gamsol.

What department do you find these in?

Joyce, go to the wall paint dept. These are the little white, flat, -fuzzy on one side- paint pads. The cost is around $2. - $3. for two. Its been a while since I bought some. They're made to do trim work- along the ceiling line, baseboards, door frames. Don't buy the *frame* part that holds the pads. Just buy the replacement pads. These are the same thing as the stamp scrubber pads, only lots cheaper!

I read on SCS ahile back that you can clean StazOn with the Yo-Yo yellow ink pad ( a separate one from the one you use for stamping) Has anyone tried this?

Bump just means moving the thread to the top of the forum so more people will see it - so if the OP is looking for more replies, bumping it every day or every few hours will bring it to the top for more attention - that's why once is not enough!!!
I started out with those paint pads and wanted to be all SU all the time so got the scrub thing - either works just as well.
My vote is for the Stampin' Up stamp cleaner pads. I wanted another one so I could use one for light inks and one for dark inks and not have to wash it half way through my creative day. I purchased one from AC Moore (white case with blue lettering) and it only has one pad in it and that is glued in the case (at least it does have a case). Cost about $10. Then I went back and purchased the single pad by Ranger with no case, so I could have 2 pads in the case I previously purchased. I also unglued the one in the case. Now I can use and wash each of them.
All toll, I should just have ordered another pad cleaner with case from Stampin' Up. Would have saved time, effort and about $1.
Using these pads sure beats using a bunch of paper towels and excessive amounts of liquid cleaner. I do also use baby wipes for cleaning stamps too.
Okay, potentially stupid question here. For those of you who wash your scrubbers in the dishwasher, do you do them by themselves or with a load of dishes? I tried this once with my dishes and was picking little bits of broccoli out of my scrub for weeks!

I washed one set of mine in the dishwasher once. They are now permanently curled and difficult to get back into the case.
I did them with dishes, which I rinsed really well before running it. I didn't get any food particles in my pads.
Now I just handwash. I use a drop of Dawn soap and scrub with a little water, then rinse until they come clean. Sometimes I have to repeat the washing step, depending on how much Craft ink I used! I squeeze out excess water by pressing the pad against the side of the sink. Then dry on a towel. I just washed three sets this week, since they got so inky during VSN last weekend!
As for the Softner bit, I tend to think the scrubs are like a micro fiber cloth and could potentially get clogged with the fabric softner and not be as effective. I know with my Norwex cloths I cannot use bleach or softener on them per the instructions with them. Just a thought.
I am soooo sad! I took mine out of the SU Scrubber (the pads out) to clean them and all but one of the little holder things ended up snipping off (breaking) when I tried to put them back in, and now the scrubber pads won't hold still when cleaning!!! WAAAA! I even bent them so they would fit back under the little tabs but they were just brittle or something and now I am sad!!!! Has anyone else ever had this problem? I watched my demo take hers out once and did the exact same thing, but it still broke. I really don't think it can be fixed and don't know what to do other than buy another one.
I will wash mine with gentle liquid hand soap and rinse and leave in the sink overnight to dry. I do not take my pads out of the scrub case. I rub the pads with my fingers or soft nail brush. When I notice a build up on the pads over time or have used alot of black, craft or staz on or darker ink I clean them with Simple Green cleaner to get some of the residual dark colors off. I have used the dishwasher but find it quicker and easier and less chance of ruining your pads when washing by hand.
