I wonder if folks have had experience using the newish stamps & matching dies. Which brand name dies cut closest to the image without much of a "halo"? Thanks.
Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies that have been introduced in the last 6 months or so, don't leave alot of "halo" and you don't have to make a template. Just stamp the image and line up the die.....it's really awesome!
I haven't used the Ellen Essentials dies but I have watched videos and those dies and matching stamps seem to be really good, too!
I'm not a big fan of the "halo effect", either. I don't mind fussy cutting, but some images have tiny details that can be difficult to cut around and still leave intact. When I don't want the white edge to show, I color it with a marker that's close to the background color, to help it blend in.
Examples: HYCCT1404 - holding with super hugs by PH in VA (the superhero was die cut) HYCCT1422 - we belong together by PH in VA (both of the birds were die cut)
I realize that's not exactly an answer to the original question, but it's a workaround that might be suitable for some people.

Blending it in is an excellent idea.....thanks for sharing. Meantme....anyone come up with any other no halo dies?

...sure its got a catchy beat, but can you stamp to it?
life is something that happens only when you run out of cardstock
Well, Jo, I just checked and the simply daisies die that went with the simply amazing stamp set, does not look like it is available now. I just got this last year, so not sure what is up with that, as they say. Sorry 'bout that.
I know some of the Tim Holtz/ Sizzix Thinlets cut right up to the image. My Crazy Birds & cats leaves no halo. That is actually the one reason I rarely buy matching dies & stamps- I absolutely hate seeing a white halo around a die -cut, to me it makes it look like a sticker, not something made/coloured by the crafter.
Amen, Shaz! I will admit that I had a set once that left a halo, but it was for mass-producing grandkid Easter projects, and they're okay with stickers... ;) After that project, I gifted the stamps and dies to my daughter.

No probs (as they say...haha). I have a lot of Verve sentiment stamps but haven't been to their site for awhile so it was fun so look at their stuff again!!

And I'm one who loves that "beveled" rounded edge look you get using dies that leave a border, although I admit it does sometimes detract from the overall look of my card. Love the tip about coloring the edges - thanks, PH, for the tip!

Verve has one called simply amazing. There are others on Verve's site. She tells you which ones have no halo when you read the description.

Coffee helps is one of hers as well.
I thought SU told us on a tour that only photopolymer stamps can have dies that cut right to the edge, because it doesn't shrink and rubber does, or something like that. But it seems like there is a mix of rubber and photopolymer here.
Fun stamp. A "caffeine helps" stamp, please, since my jolt is a.m. diet cola.
I never liked halos until watching a guest designer on a Jennifer McGuire video using Press 'n' Seal for a flower card - aybe because the halos are white against a white background. But it pried open my mind a little.
I made a Grumplings calendar on an easel with a drawer and didn't mind the halos - maybe because Grumplings are cartoony and cutesy. (I don't generally do cartoon-cute but a former instructor sold a kit with drawer instructions and it was for my 92-year-old mother-in-law - until my husband saw it and liked it enough I "had" to make another."
But nine times out of ten no halos, so I don't buy matching dies. I appreciate those of you listing no-halo dies - thank you.

Reason: Chrome spacing

My stamps with dies that cut right to the edge are the TH Crazy Birds & Cats, and both my sets are red rubber.
That's so funny! Normally I'm strictly a no-halo person, but just the other day I noticed some card that was white halos on a white background and I thought "hey, now that does look good".

I'm not a big fan of Halos either, that's one reason I bought Brother Scan and Cut. HOWEVER, their instructions are poor, and I can't even make it scan and cut anything properly.
