Has anyone had success using the fiskars embossing plates with cuttlebug and what worked best for you? I looked at the chart in the forums but I dont know what and tan/black wizard is and was hoping to use what I have already. would love to use some of those impressions.

Have you checked the Cuttlebug thread? I am one of the ones who has a Wizard so can't help you with the sandwich for Cuttlebug. I do know that someone said that they had to cut down the plates so they would fit? There should be something. Do you know how to do a search? Hope this helps.

I have used them in the Big Shot (which is similiar to the Cuttlebug)...I used fun foam to create my sandwich (so it went plastic sheet, embossing plate, paper, fun foam and plastic sheet). After a few passes though, the fun foam is pretty smooshed and you don't get as thick of an impression as the cuttlebug dies. I still want to experiement with the foam but I read someone used gasket rubber sheets from the hardware store. I think it's a matter of building enough layers to get the right pressure. Good luck!
One word of caution (ie. this happened to me!!)...make sure your plates are all lined up. I was showing off how easy it was to use, and I had my fiskars plate hanging off the white board because I only worried about embossing a section of the paper. Well, when I cranked it all the way through, it snapped my fiskars plate right there at that spot from the pressure. So sad.
I bought the wizard charm embossing kit from Joann.com just so I could use my 3 - yes three! - packs of fiskars plates! I was so happy b/c those things had been sittin' in a drawer for years. They don't make as deep an impression as the c'bug embossing folders because of the way they're made. If you go to the tools & products forum and search cuttlebug sandwich stacks you should find something. Good luck!

plate A
another fiskar plate that you are not trying to emboss with
a piece of foam sheet
the fiskar plate that you WANT to emboss with
a piece of 65 lb paper you are trying to emboss
another scrap piece of 65 lb paper
plate B
First mist both sides of the CS with water. Then sandwich...
Plate A
fiskars texture plate
CS
1 piece of fun foam (thin)
1 piece of cardboard (from the back of a note pad)
2 pieces of misc CS
Plate C
I was afraid of breaking my bug, too. So, if you feel like the fit is too tight, remove a piece of CS or the cardboard. Just adding or removing a piece of the misc. CS could make the difference. Good-luck!
Okay what about sizzix?? I have tons of fiskar plates but hate using that stupid little tool. I would love to know what I would need to get to use them. I'm all for textures!
In the CB I have used a sheet of rubber gasket (looks just like a sheet of UM stamps except a little thicker and no images of course) which I bought at the Home Depot plumbing dept. I make the stack with plate A, texture plate face up, misted paper, rubber, and plate B. Misting paper makes a big difference in the impression!
I also have the Fiskars templates and a BigKick. Chris got me to thinking about the sandwich and the foam. But after a couple of times you couldn't use it anymore. So, today I tried a piece of felt and that seemed to work pretty good. The rubber gasket sounds like it is worth a try. I didn' mist, I'll try that next.
