Today's Way To Use It Challenge, WT603-An Apple A Day (9/29/16), was to commemorate Johnny Appleseed's birthday and a love for all things apple.
This sounded like a fun challenge, even though I don't have a lot of apple related goodies in my stamp stash...or so I thought!!! My goodness, I could make apple oriented cards from now until Halloween and I likely wouldn't use them all. I had no clue I had so many apples lurking unused in my stamping drawers!
I opted to go with this cutie-patootie apple punch that I have had for eons and never used, and paired it with a well loved, much used little leaf frond punch from Punch Bunch. The Apple is 4 layers glued together, with a tiny scrap of the Woodgrain cs used for the stem. The leaf fronds were punched from a leftover scrap of cardstock that was smeared with green, Tim Holtz distress inks.
An aperture seemed like a good way to showcase the classic simplicity of the single apple, and I decided to use one of the SU Starburst framelits because of the fun, zig-zag design on the inside edge. The SU Washi label punch was used for the sentiment label because it shares the zig-zag finish on the ends.
To add some interest and dimension, I added strips of foam tape near the the edges of the circle opening (on the inside), and in the center of the sentiment label. The outside edges of the Woodgrain panel and sentiment are glued flat, to emphasize the raised portion in the center.
This was a fun challenge to participate in because it lead me to use more than one product in my stash that had never been used before, in ways I never envisioned. And I got to celebrate my love of apples at the same time. How fun is that? Very!
Thanks for popping by to look - Apple Blessings to you!

I too love that wood grain background. Frames your apple image beautifully. Its amazing how a challenge reminds you of what you have hidden away in your stash of goodies - but the problem is to find it - where did I put that little apple punch - he he.

Very pretty card and I really like that zig zag on the circle. Also, the woodgrain looks great. Maybe I should check and see if I find an apple stash as you did. Ha
