Made for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown theme challenge #46-16: http://52cct.blogspot.co.uk/ that required the creation of a "Old Fashion" or "Retro" Christmas card.
I took the theme to heart and reached back into my stamp collection for a set I've not used in eons - the Stampin' Up 1993 retired Stitched Santa set. The Santa in that 4-piece set just begged to be hand-colored.
The "Seasons Greetings" sentiment was perfect too, since I recall cards from my childhood had that saying. That stamp was also from 1993 - the SU Great Greetings set.
I wanted the patterned paper to be more muted shades of green and red, so I used the green sweater-like paper from some retired (2010) SU DSP called "Sweet Pea". The red was from an American Crafts Jolly paper pad.
The 1993 Santa was hand-colored with Copic markers as listed above.
Below are the dimensions of the elements:
Card base: 8.5" x 4.25"
White matting: 5.25" x 4"
Green panel: 5" x 3.75"
White mat for red panel: 2.625" x 4"
Red panel: 2" x 4"
Black mat for Santa: 4.875" x 2.75"
White Santa panel: 3.875" x 2.5"
White sentiment panel: 0.75" x 2.5"
I originally was going to rate the difficulty as "3", but that was because of the effort required to determine the panel sizes. Since I've figured them out (for this specific Santa stamp), I'll formally rate it a "2" for anyone who tries to recreate a similar card.
Seasons' Greetings!
